Best six weeks of my life.
The team at Edge of Africa are brilliant, very welcoming and they make your stay the best possible. Working with the children in the townships was challenging but so rewarding when you realise how much you have helped to change their lives especially with regards to learning English. If you are thinking of doing the pre-school project with Edge of Africa, go prepared with exciting but simple lesson plans/ideas and maybe some activities, games and songs. The children love being outside and having the chance to use different toys to normal. They have a lot of energy! Not only do you have the chance to make a difference in the children's lives, with Edge of Africa you can experience the adventure side, with the worlds highest bridge bungy jump, sky diving, weekend safari, riding an elephant and visiting a cheetah in his cage, as well as making a new group of friends from all over the world. Absolutely loved my time with Edge and it has made me want to travel and see the rest of the world....

Life changing, never to be forgotten

I would highly recommend the edge of Africa projects. The people on the edge team are so supportive and friendly and will endeavour to make your stay as successful and enjoyable as possible. The people of the township are very friendly as well and welcome the edge volunteers with open arms. However, it’s not all about the work, it was also a mini-holiday as well, with the chance to sky dive, complete the world’s highest bridge bungee jump, go on safari amongst many others. Knysna itself is a beautiful town with the most amazing coast line and garden route. The volunteer house ticks all the boxes complete with basic amenities and a relaxed and happy atmosphere, which is just what you need after a day’s work.
