For trekkers and inexperienced mountaineers, this is a unique opportunity to climb a remote 6000m Himalayan peak in north west India. Combined with a unique insight into the life, religion and culture of a little visited part of India, this trekking and mountaineering expedition will be unforgetable.
Located in the Trans-Himalayan belt on the periphery of the Tibetan Plateau, Khanamo peak lies inside the Kibber Wildlife Sanctuary, home to the elusive Snow Leopard and the endangered Himalayan Wolf. Besides the adventure of hiking to the peak, the Himalayan trek is most rewarding for any wildlife and floral enthusiast.
Khanamo is a relatively easy peak to scale, and at a height of almost 6000m it is also one of the most rewarding as well. A completely non technical peak in terms of scaling, it requires nothing more than a good pair of hiking shoes and a walking stick. We camp during the trek, and stay with community homestays at the begininng and end.
The Khanamo trekking ascent is not only a great adrenalin rush of getting atop almost 6000mts to be surrounded by a vastness of snow capped peaks, but also an eye opener into our fast depleting fresh water store house. From its very source, through mountains and valleys and intricate channels till it reaches our homes, discover natures most valuable resource.
Revenues from this trip are directed towards initiatives that assist in mitigating impacts of climate change in India.
