Spiti is a Trans-Himalayan cold desert region lying on the eastern periphery of the Tibetan Plateau. Rolling alpine meadows, 6000 mt peaks, high passes, glaciers, turquoise lakes, and rare and endangered fauna and flora characterise Spiti's unique moonscape.
A thriving 1000 year old living Tibetan Buddhist tradition, ancient monasteries, remote villages and a purely homogenous Buddhist community. The social fabric of the region is charaterised by prayer flags and resonance of Buddhist chants.

Getting there

Spiti is located in the state of Himachal Pradesh, India surrounded by Tibet in the east and Ladakh in the north.

• By Road Delhi to Manali (12 hour)
  Manali to Kaza (8-10 hours)
• By Rail
• By Air Delhi to Kullu (flight is about 1 hour).
  Kullu is the nearest airport to Spiti. From Kullu one can either rent a jeep or catch a early morning bus to Kaza. Duration is about 10-11 hours

We are a collaborative of the local community and professionals from diverse backgrounds who have come together to create unique, authentic and reliable active adventures that not only provides the Spiti valley community with a sustainable source of income but also serves as an incentive to conserve their unique natural & cultural heritage and environment.

Promotion of community based, responsible eco-travel is the core focus for Ecosphere. All our adventure trips have been carefully designed by experts and community members who understand the region extremely well, thus providing an authentic and meaningful experience and insight into the region. All our trips in the Himalayas ensure multiple benefits for the community, their culture, the ecology of the Spiti region and a great experience for the adventure seeker.

All revenues generated by Ecosphere are ploughed back towards the local Spiti community either as revenues to service providers, for conservation activities, welfare and development of the region. In all adventure travel activities we use only local service providers from the Spiti valley. 90% of our permanent staff is local to the Spiti Valley.
