Day1&2: Wines, history and tales of wood
Relish 6 varieties of local wine aside a traditional meal. Discover Baia Mare with a history of over 700 years. Enter the universe of carved wooden gates and wooden churches-Maramures.
Day 3&4: Archaic way of life, traditional music and Tatarului Gorge
Meet the sheperds on Tatarului Plateau and taste their specific food. Discover the flora and fauna in Brazilor Glade Nature Reserve. Travel by horse cart through villages and discover their traditional life and music.
Day 5&6: Wetlands, peatbogs and Creasta Cocosului Nature Reserve
Visit Morarenilor lakes with their ice age relicts, over 150 species of algae and specific fauna (including freshwater turtles). Travel back in time to the archaic village of Breb. Climb Creasta Cocosului Nature Reserve, remainder of a volcanic crater that erupted 9 million years ago.
Visit the birds’ observatory and do some birdwatching. Find out how an unique ecosystem was formed and evolved at Chendroii Lakes, an active peat bog at an altitude of 1053 m.
Day 7&8: Sacred, nature and traditional art and crafts.
Visit Barsana Monastery, a space where nature, traditional art and faith shed tranquility, peace and beauty over the soul of the pilgrim or tourist. Visit the Romanian Peasant Museum at Dragomiresti. Learn about the famous pottery of Sacel. Travel by the steam loco in a landscape of enchanted wilderness.
Day 9. Transfer to Cluj, Baia Mare or Budapest airport.
