Day 1&2. Arrival on Ghetar karst plateau
Take a horse-drawn sleigh ride to Ghetar hamlet, in the fresh, mountain winter air.
Meet a young family of Moti (the population living in Apuseni Mountains), learn about their specific lifestyle, hear their stories and tales.
Visit the Ghetar Tourist Information Centre, listen to the sound of tulnic (the local version of the alpenhorn) and watch a demonstration of wood carving.
Visit Scarisoara ice cave-the largest underground glacier in the world and 3500 years old.
Day 3&4. Ghetar – Casa de Piatra
Hike and then take a ride by the horse-drawn sleigh towards Casa de Piatra hamlet, an isolated and picturesque settlement. Visit Coiba Mare cave with it’s impressive entrance, Coiba Mica cave and then explore Vartop ice cave –home of Homo Fossilis 25000 years ago.
Prepare for the New Year’s Eve celebration and enjoy traditional meals based on local old recipes, in a specific winter atmosphere.
Day 5. Calineasa Glade.
Hike to Calineasa Glade, a large glade scattered at 1300 meters altitude with a large view upon the southern part of Apuseni Mountains, including the highest peak: Bihor Peak (1848 m).
On the last evening here, dinner time is just perfect to recall memories from a memorable experience.
Day 6. Departure.
Stop at Tauz karst spring where, a lake with a perfect clear, green water surrounded by vertical stone walls. Visit the old wooden church in Garda de Sus and it’s large collection of Orthodox icons dated from 1798 to 1804.
