Our surf and volunteer program in Peru is designed to help you maximise your time surfing in Lobitos whilst also maximising your contribution to the local community.
You arrive in Talara, Northern Peru, met by a WAVES team member, then travel on a dirt road to Lobitos for orientation before beginning service with local youth.
Based on your skills and experience you will contribute to Education programs as an assistant in one of the following program areas: English and Arts, Environmental Education, Life Skills, Swimming and Surfing. Additionally, on trips over 3 weeks, you develop an individual service project.
Projects vary based on the needs and current projects in the community. Past volunteer service projects have included: music classes, community beach clean ups, documentary film making with kids, design and construction of a surf shack, environmental curriculum development, educational movie nights, and a recycling project.
With perfect waves in Lobitos, we recognize the importance of free surfing and time to enjoy the surrounding area. As a result, we ensure every morning is free surfing time, and most afternoons. The surf volunteer program is designed to provide an effective balance
between work and play.
