Bareges is a great base from which to explore the Pyrenees, being situated just on the edge of the Pyrenees National Park and the Neouvielle Nature Reserve - the Pyrenean Lake District. We are also within easy driving distance of Lourdes. There are lovely walking routes directly from the village, and we are just a short drive from the spectacular Cirque de Gavarnie and the Pont d'Espagne above Cauterets. Bareges is also just below the Col du Tourmalet, so it is perfect for both road cycling and mountain biking, and there are lots of mountain activities such as rafting, paragliding, canyoning and caving available in the local area. As part of your stay with us, we would be very happy to suggest walking and cycling routes, places to visit, and to pre-book activities for you at no extra charge. In winter, Bareges is part of the Tourmalet resort - the largest ski area in the French Pyrenees. You can ski home to the village, and the lifts are just 5 minutes ride by free ski bus. Getting there

In a traditional mountain spa village, dating from the time of Napoleon III. Bareges is at 1250m altitude, in a dramatic valley with its own rushing river. The village is surrounded by towering peaks above, and pretty flower-filled meadows below.

• By Road From Northern France ferry ports via Bordeaux or Toulouse. from Spain via Pau. Then follow signs for Lourdes, then Argeles-Gazost, then Luz-St. Sauveur, then Bareges.
• By Rail Eurostar to Paris, then train to Lourdes and connecting coach to Bareges. We recommend the night train from Paris to Lourdes.
• By Air Closest airports are Tarbes-Lourdes (50 mins), served by Ryanair and Bmi-baby, or Pau airport (1h30m), served by ryanair. Toulouse and bBiarritz airports are 2h30m.
• By Sea Closest ferry ports are Bilbao, 3h40m, and Santander, 4h35m
