Holiday in Britain’s high arctic, home to our most permanent snow beds. With so much ground above 3000ft, nowhere else are conditions so consistent - a winter mountain wonderland.
.Arrive: Fraoch Lodge day before activities start - try to aim to arrive between 5 & 7pm so that you have time to settle in and meet the rest of the group before dinner.
Day 1: Essential Winter skills instruction/refreshment and ascent to Cairngorm’s (M) rime-encrusted summit.
Day 2: A route of high plateau wilderness to the heart of the Massif and Britain’s 2nd highest peak - Ben Macdui. Views to near giants across the most spectacular of glacial defiles.
Day 3: Beinn Mheadhoin’s (M) route sees us pass through the climbers’ mountain paradise of the Loch A’an Basin before we ascend to the summit and its curious ‘barns’.
Day 4: We climb through native pines to a grandstand view of the high Cairngorms from Shepherd’s Hill - Meall a’ Bhuachaille, before continuing along the spine of the Kincardine Hills.
Day 5: A route cross Britain’s most impressive glacial valley before climbing to the lofty summit of Braeriach and dramatic views into the colossal and complex series of cliffs that form An Garbh Choire.
Depart: after breakfast on day after activities finish
