An amazing mountain biking holiday in Ecuador, with its array of indigenous cultures, colonial architecture, dramatic volcanic landscapes and dense rainforest, it’s not just about great mountain biking it’s an amazing exploration of Ecuador.
Our mountain biking holiday takes us from the barren moonscapes and striking volcanoes of the high Andes, through pine forests, cloudforests and down into jungle. Quaint villages and colourful vibrant local markets give us a taste of the local culture and the odd thermal bath and swim to help sooth those muscles.Transfers enable us to see so much of the country and ensure that more than a fair share of our mountain biking is downhill.
After acclimatising in the capital Quito, we mountain bike to Tandayapa in the cloudforest famous for its 330 species of birds and then explore the colorful market in Otavalo and then stop at Papallacta for a dip in the hot springs before heading into the jungle. Further amazing rides follow; from Cotopaxi National Park we embark on a wild ride to Lake Limpiopungo and from the rim of the volcano Quilotoa down to Zumbahua along the “Grand Canyon” of Ecuador. A rest day in Baños our final mountain biking ride take us from Chimborazo the highest mountain in Ecuador, before transfers to Quito.
