There are no fixed itineraries – you are free to walk as much or as little as you like. As such the trip is suitable for walkers and trekkers of all abilities, parties of mixed ability and families.
You can choose our 'No-Frills Hosted' Escape which is a purely self - guided walking option or upgrade to our 'Original' Escape and join 3 organised walks a week in addition, as well as receiving a delicious, deli-style packed lunch each day. The walking in Gran Canaria is wonderfully diverse for such a compact area. Short walks (anything from ½ hour to 2 ½ hours), pass through tiny villages, to important cave-sites, through pine forests, to awesome viewpoints, into a great gorge ravine, down to a hidden beach, or into the crater of an extinct volcano. Take a picnic on this adventure, and take your time… If you feel like heading out on a few medium length (half-day) walks, you can discover important aboriginal caves, walk through cool Canarian Pine forests in a nature reserve, head into a lush barranco (ravine) with waterfalls, anicent pathways, or cross grassland plateaus with wonderful views. If full-day walks and hikes are what you want, you can explore further, climbing higher into Gran Canaria.
If opting for an 'Original' trip, on organised walks you may find yourself exploring the lush Mina Valley with its waterfall and upland pastures, discovering the tranquil valleys of the north of the island, or following the great central ridge from the island’s highest point (1949m), the Peak of Snows!
If you would prefer to visit the area without having to drive, please ask about our 'Original Car-Free' Escapes.
