Volunteer at Hacienda Tranquila
Hacienda Tranquila offers room for up to 20 volunteers at a time to come stay in our cabin in the highlands of San Cristóbal Island, Galápagos Islands. The volunteers can come for whatever amount of time they would like. During a typical day, volunteers wake up at 8 and have a morning project to work on. Then there is a lunch break and an afternoon activity starts up at 2 in the afternoon until about 5. These projects are centered around restoring the unique Galápagos environment through removing invasive species and planting native an endemic plants. We have a nursery on site where the plants are kept until they are mature enough to be planted in their respected areas. The projects also consist of visiting the farmers in the community and helping them in work they may need for their farm. The farms that work with the Hacienda are all organic. The volunteers may also be working with the children in the community through english classes or hippotherapy. Our hippotherapy program uses horses to work with children with special needs as well as students in youth programs. Outside of doing volunteer work, the volunteers are free to explore the town and everything the Galápagos has to offer in the evenings and weekends.
