Montecristo River Lodge is located 43 km down river from the port town of San Carlos, Rio San Juan, in Nicaragua. We are very close to Costa Rica, with easy access and border crossing from Los Chiles, Costa Rica to San Carlos, Nicaragua via a short boat ride. Ideal for multi country vacation.

The lodge sits at the entrance of Natural Private Reserve Montecristo a 120 plus acres of protected wild life area. On it we grow a bit of coffee, cacao, vanilla and a variety of fruits. We produce small amount of chicken, pork, milk and cheese. We also have about 1 km of river front were you could fish for small game. We also keep 14 horses for our guess to ride in our jungle trails.

Montecristo River Lodge work with the all inclusive system, that mean that one price include everything inside our lodge: Room, all meal, the use of horses, canoes, kayak, trails, fishing gear and local guide if desired.
We are in the rain forest, but the lodge area is quite big with lots of gardens and green areas for you to walk, plenty of hammock to read books and is a great place for birding The place is famous because is home of giant tarpon, a fighting fish some time reaching the 200 pound mark.
From our lodge you could explore other rivers and other Natural Reserve as well as the historic jungle river town of El Castillo with a fort built during our colonial era.
