Meet the members - Geckoes Lodge, Costa Rica

30th June 2011

About us, The Geckoes team:
Geckoes Lodge is owned and managed by husband and wife team, Tom Keller & Zoë Courtier. With backgrounds in hospitality education and tourism and extensive international experience, we decided it was time for a new adventure. Tom is from The Netherlands and Zoe is from England.
We came to Costa Rica in 2006 and chose Puerto Viejo for its individuality, small-scale development and the stunning combination of rainforest with spectacular beaches.
Ably assisted by caretaker team Jose & Tita from central Costa Rica, 'Geckoes' is the culmination of a two-year project to create private and luxurious holiday accommodation whilst maintaining the beauty and minimising the impact on the surrounding rainforest and its inhabitants. 'Geckoes' was so named to symbolise the symbiotic relationship possible between wildlife and humans.
With a commitment to Sustainable development, eco-friendly practices and environmental consciousness, our operating practices follow environmentally friendly guidelines and our houses have been designed to fit the landscape rather than vice versa.
What makes us Muchbetter?
We aim to give our guests personal service, lots of tips on how to make the best of their visit to this
area and privacy whilst enjoying and protecting the amazing nature that surrounds us. But our guests can tell you more... Their reviews say it!
Our insider tip for this area would be: Take the opportunity to visit the Indigenous tribes of this area with an experienced guide because they are a fascinating and important aspect of Costa Rica.
The view from our office is rainforest… sometimes with a sloth or two!

Back again with our 'Meet the Members' series, Tom and Zoe from Geckoes Lodge tell us a little bit about their great eco lodge in Costa Rica.
