This Progressive long weekend prepares you to climb either the Dome des Ecrins (4015) or the Barre des Ecrins (4102m).
The weekend starts with a glacier skills day where you will review cramponing and ice axe techniques, roping up and moving as a unit on a glacier, spotting potential dangers and crevasse rescue.
On the second day you will do an acclimatization climb of either the beautiful Pic du Glacier Arsine (3364m) a mixed climb mainly on snow or the Pointe des Cinéastes (3202m) an aesthetic 200m multi-pitch climb.
Then on the last day, the goal of the weekend, itâs time to conquer the dramatic the Dome des Ecrins or the Barre des Ecrins. Both routes weave up this unmistakable snow face, and for the Barre des Ecrins there is an exposed 300m climb to reach the summit. You will be rewarded with spectacular views across the Ecrins and the Alps.If you are a fit and passionate hiker or climber this trip is not to be missed! A high level of fitness, stamina and head for heights are needed for both trips as all the climbs are exposed. Some experience in cramponing and climbing is needed for the Barre des Ecrins.
