What do we say?

Having spent a year out in South America himself, Alex knows exactly what incredible experiences Andean Trails have in store for you. As true specialists in South American trekking, mountaineering, biking and rafting, and with a strong commitment to using friendly local accommodation, guides and businesses, you can be sure of an unforgetable experience.

You can also be sure that few international operators are doing as much as these guys to support and benefit the communities you visit and places you explore - making your trip go that much further.

Our Future Action Plan

  • DONE! Minimise carbon output from our office operations. In 2010 we are planning to move into new office space that we hope to design and develop to be as efficient in energy use as possible. Non toxic, fair trade products will be used in the office.
  • DONE! In 2010 we aim for all office staff to be cycling to work. Any long haul travel will be carbon offset through Rainforest Concern.
  • We have purchased a share in a building in Peru, which is to be used as a training centre for Peruvian students learning about sustainable tourism.
  • The porters we work with come from one community and we are actively involved in assisting the school there. We will continue this and add support.
  • DONE! We will increase our support to Huchuy Yachaq, a Peruvian community project near Cuscoby paying them USD 3000 per year for a teacher’s salary. www.huchuyyachaq.org
  • NEW FOR 2011/12: helping to reforest the bare hillside of the Lares valley near Cusco though the lcoal conservation body www.ecoanperu.org – we pay USD 2000 per year to plant native trees
  • NEW FOR 2011/12: paying GBP 750 sponsorship to www.amantani.org.uk sports event 96% of which goes to their projects in Cusco – they run 3 boarding houses in Ccorca (1 hour from Cusco, Peru) for 64 children that used to have to walk up to 8 hours daily
