Rancho Chilamate Adventures on Horseback

Is riding horseback on the beach on your adventure dream list? Rancho Chilamate Adventures on Horseback proudly offers guided horse rides to spectacular beaches for small groups of adventurous travelers. The same beaches where they filmed the reality TV series Survivor-Nicaragua.

Located just 10km south of the popular surf town of San Juan del Sur, Rancho Chilamate operates totally off-the-grid and is proudly part of Nicaragua’s first solar-powered community.

Horseback is a truly intimate way to get in touch with your surroundings and Nicaragua is no exception. The 3-4 hour beach rides leave from Rancho Chilamate through the neighboring village, down back roads and oxcart trails into the dry tropical forest and then out to the spectacular, secluded beaches of the Pacific Ocean. Guides speak English and are informative, interesting and environmentally aware.

Beach rides are available first thing in the morning, timed to catch a Pacific Ocean sunset, or with lunch at a local eatery. Mountain ridge rides offer spectacular views and the expeditions into the 450 acre nature reserve behind the ranch offer great wildlife viewing. Host photographer Blue will photograph your ride and send you the photos for keepsake.

This cowboy-inspired Spanish Colonial Hacienda also features a fully independent guest house and guest room for those who wish to stay longer in this beautiful remote area of southern Nicaragua for more riding, nature hikes, surfing, star gazing or just watching the monkeys in the wild right here at Rancho Chilamate.

What do we say?

Jamie and Blue have got a beautiful set up on the Nicaraguan coastline. If you ever fancied galloping across a white sand beach or exploring the Nicaraguan jungle, then this is the place to do it. With excellent local knowledge, happy horses, a friendly team of locals and great food, this is truly an authentic adventure in off the beaten track Nicaragua. Their commitment to the local community and environment is there for all to see, making it a muchbetter trip indeed.
