Terms of Membership
Please read these terms carefully as they outline the agreed terms of your membership with us. Definitions and general terms are at the bottom.
Our service to you
The aim of the website, and other services we provide through it, is to promote your products and services, in the aim of generating business opportunities for you.
We act as an advertising intermediary by providing space to feature your goods and services on the website, and on occasion we will negotiate space on other websites, marketing and PR outlets to feature your goods and services.
We do not sell or resell any of the goods or services displayed on the website, as we feel this is best done direct by you, who is the expert, and can ensure the goods or services are able to meet the requirements of the customer.
As such we do not act as an agent; we do not take money on your behalf or act as go between in any issues relating to a customer's experience. Any dealings between a customer and any supplier found on or via this Website are solely between the customer and the relevant member, and are done so at their own risk.
Where appropriate we will endeavour to present you information to assist you in determining the benefit you are receiving from our services.
Your responsibilities
To be able to successfully deliver more and more business to you, we require that you adhere to certain responsibilities. In brief these are:
- Ensuring you meet our membership requirements
- Encouraging and supporting reviews and feedback
- Responding swiftly to enquiries
- Keeping your information and images accurate and up to date, and listing and selling all products on the website at the ‘direct’ price that would be available if the enquirer went direct through you
- Paying invoices promptly
- (Commission only) Declaring bookings from enquirers accurately and promptly.
There is more detail about all these below.
We aim to maintain a constant dialogue with our members and resolve any issues promptly and positively.
Membership Requirements
Suppliers of travel arrangements will be welcomed as members when, at our sole discretion, we are satisfied they fulfil, and are committed to, our membership requirements.
There are 2 memberships available: ‘Local’ and 'muchbetter'. You confirm you feel your operations meet our requirements and you understand the different allowances and requirements applied to each membership level.
For ‘local’ membership, in particular you confirm that;
- Your travel business or service is independently or community owned and can de defined as a 'local business' in which the owners of the business are residents of the country in which the business operates.
- If you operate in multiple countries, you may only apply for 'muchbetter' membership unless we expressly agree otherwise.
For full 'muchbetter' membership, in particular you confirm that;
- Your operations fulfil a complete range of generally recognised sustainable tourism practices, and you will provide us with all and any information we require to verify that claim.
- If operating in multiple destinations, the business is committed to using locally owned service providers wherever possible.
For all membership types, you confirm that;
- All goods, services and travel arrangements you feature on this site will be provided with all due skill, care and diligence, will at all times remain of a good and clean standard, in full working order and safe for occupation and use, and will at all times comply in full with all applicable international, national, local, trade and other laws, regulations and codes of practice (including EU legislation where applicable) relating to hygiene, fire, safety and any other relevant standards specific to the types of goods and services you provide.
- You are responsible for holding valid operating licenses, certificates and permits confirming such compliance, and as required by any relevant local, regional, national or international authorities.
- You are responsible for holding sufficient insurance, guarantees or indemnities for the type of products and services you provide.
We reserve the right to refuse a supplier or their products from appearing on this website at any time. We will always try to give a reasonable explanation, but will not be obliged to do so.
Reviews and feedback
- You are aware we encourage reviews or feedback from customers, which are displayed unedited on the website. You will pro-actively support this as it ensures the continued quality of our service. We encourage you to report malicious or false reviews, which we will consider for removal upon presentation of evidence to support this claim. We will not accept reviews added by you or your staff, even if they are copies of genuine reviews.
- You are aware we aim to personally visit many of our members over time, particularly ‘muchbetter’ members. You will pro-actively support and welcome any visit from an individual on behalf of the website, as it ensures the continued quality of our service. We will not require or expect any special treatment or discount in return.
- You are aware that we automatically contact all persons who make an enquiry or booking to gather their feedback. In the event of a complaint made to us, we commit to discussing the issues raised fully with the supplier concerned to determine whether the complaint was justified, to work with the supplier to resolve the issue, and to assess if the criteria to which the supplier has committed are being adhered to.
Responding to Enquiries
- We recommend you respond to all enquiries on the day you receive them. Customers expect quick response, so this will maximise your chance of converting to a booking.
- We require that you do respond within a maximum of two working days of them being sent.
- Please note we do ask customers for feedback after they enquire. We will work with you to achieve a high level of service and support you in finding a solution to any problems.
- We reserve the right to remove members whose response time, conversion on enquiries and feedback from enquirers is continually negative and well below average for the site, despite us working with them to improve.
