Why trek to Everest Base Camp?
Different trek operators to Everest Base Camp will require different fitness levels and it is important to check with your operator what preparation they would recommend before trekking and any gear they would recommend you bring.
Best time to do an Everest Base Camp trek.
The best time of year to do the trek is either September to November or March to May. June to August is the Monsoon season and so there is a high landslide risk as well as the possibility of no views due to cloud. November to February is winter and so it can be very cold when you get higher up.
Types of trek?
Most Everest base camp treks are tea-house treks so you will be staying in Nepali tea-houses whilst trekking. This means that it is nice to have comfortable clothes to wear in the evenings and maybe a pair of light shoes to give your feet a rest from your boots and socks.
For those who wish to have a more relaxing trip to an Everest Base Camp there are tours to Tibetan Everest Base Camp which can be visited on 10 day tours.
