Why ski in France?
France has huge ski areas and therefore there is a holiday for every budget and inclination. Méribel and Val d'Isère are the most popular for British tourists and are, coincidentally, some of the best for après-ski.
Chamonix is popular for those wanting steep off piste runs, and there is the famous 20km run down the Vallée Blanche and Mer de Glace.
The Paradiski and Trois Vallees are popular with those who prefer long distance runs whilst there are also a large number of charming villages like Les Gets and Morzine, based in the Portes du Soleil ski area.
There are a number of high purpose built results like Tignes which, whilst not being so aesthetically pleasing, have the large bonus of ski-to-door options.
Getting there and back
During winter Eurostar runs services right from the UK to the some areas of the Alps and there are also other high speed links from Paris. If you decide to fly then most major resorts will have transfer buses from the major airports.
