Why Ski in Italy?
Italy is an increasingly popular skiing destination as it is cheaper than other European destinations whilst having good resorts in stunning surroundings. There is a long history of great resorts in Italy, so it is well worth checking them out if you want an extra special ski holiday!
Most resorts are in the Dolomites and around Monterosa and connect with other European resorts which allows you to ski in Italy and a neighbouring country on the same day, for example between Zermatt in Switzerland and Cervinia in Italy. Ski areas can also cover large areas, for example the Super Dolomiti and Milky Way which have a very large area of lift-linked skiing areas.
Getting there
The nearest airports to most of the northern ski resorts are Verona, Venice Bolzano or Bozen. There is a Fly Ski Shuttle that connects the main airports of Northern Italy to the ski slopes.
It is possible to get the train to Italian resorts, however this will usually involve a few changes and maybe a transfer bus from the station to the resort.
