Krakatau was responsible for one of the most destructive volcanic events in history. Growing at roughly 7 metres a year, the newly formed island ‘Anuk Krakatau’ is of international intrigue.

Hiking Krakatau provides an excellent reason to visit Peucang Island and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ujung Kulon National Park too. Abandoned after the 1883 Krakatoa eruption, this is the last known refuge of the Java rhino, and home to the largest remaining area of lowland rainforest on Java.
