The Food

Cooked breakfast

The smell of coffee in the morning will lure you to the breakfast table but if you prefer a cuppa in your bedroom before heading downstairs then just ask your host the evening before. At breakfast you’ll find fresh baguettes, jam and butter alongside yoghurts and fruit juice. A bowl of creamy porridge will set you up for the day, or you could opt for your host’s daily cooked option which could be bacon and scrambled egg, or fried egg and tomato – sure to keep you going until lunchtime. There’s a fruit bowl available for you to help yourself to.

Packed lunch

Lunch isn’t included (as you’ll be out on the slopes!) but if you’d like a packed lunch then you can order this for a few euros and take it with you.

Afternoon tea

After whizzing around the mountain all day, you’ll deserve a treat! When you get back from the slopes you’ll find more fresh bread, butter and jam as well as homemade biscuits or cake accompanied by a proper cup of English tea or coffee.

Evening meal

At 8pm everyone will take a seat at the dining table and you’ll be served a delicious three-course meal. The atmosphere is like that of a dinner party, but none of the guests have to take turns to cook! Unlimited wine is served through the meal, and you’ll finish with coffees and teas in the sitting room.

To drink

The chalet has an honesty bar with beers and mixers/soft drinks as well as some snacks in case you feel peckish! You’re more than welcome to bring your own drinks and spirits into the chalet. Your hosts have picked some lovely easy-drinking red and white wine which is served during your meal.

Treat yourself

If you’d like to treat yourself to something a bit extra during your stay, we can offer pre-dinner bubbly with canapes as well as a local cheeseboard after your meal. This extra service is available for guests with sole occupancy of their chalet for £40 per person for the week.

Dietary requirements

Your hosts are more than happy to cater for vegetarians as well as guests with allergies and intolerances at no extra cost. The hosts ask that guests pass on as much information as possible prior to arrival so that they can make sure that the menu can be adapted accordingly.

Hosts’ Day Off

Your chalet hosts will have a day off mid-week. On this day you’ll have bread delivered to the chalet and can help yourself to breakfast (your hosts will show you where to find everything). They’ll also have made an extra cake which they’ll leave out for your afternoon tea.

In the evening, most guests visit a local restaurant. In La Tania you’ll find everything from pizzerias to Michelin-star dining and your hosts will be happy to recommend or book your table at the beginning of the week.

For youngest guests, a hearty and healthy meal is served between 5.30-6.00pm so that the grown-ups can relax during their meal later in the evening. The hosts have put together a menu that covers most of the family favourites with the aim of providing a few of those all-important five-a-day as well as some treats for dessert!

If your child has any dietary requirements or intolerances then do please inform your hosts before you arrive so that they can adapt the menu accordingly. Children’s tea is served with a glass of milk, fruit juice or lovely mountain water.

When younger babies are welcomed to the chalet, your hosts can whizz up some cooked fruit or vegetables. Please advise when booking and they’ll make sure your little ones are catered for. Formula milk and jars of baby food are available in our local supermarket.

Can my hosts cater to my dietary requirements?

If you let your hosts know what your dietary requirements are, they will do their best to accommodate you.

Is there a separate children's menu?

The children’s menu is made up of 2 courses which are served with a glass of milk or fruit juice. It is in a smaller portion with a simpler menu. If your child has a particular dietary requirement, please advise us at the time of booking.

Is there a separate meal time?

In order to ensure that the evening meal for adults is as tranquil as possible; children aged 12 and under are expected to take an early supper served between 5.30pm and 6pm.
