The Food

This chalet works alongside Chalet Kitchen, who deliver all your oven ready meals to your door daily (except on Wednesday). Chalet Kitchen was set up by Raphael Cabuis, who is a native of Les Gets and an expert in its cuisine.

This scheme is proving itself increasingly popular. You don’t have to spend valuable holiday time shopping for overpriced groceries, and you aren’t restricted by chalet meal times.

What you can expect

On the first day, you’ll be a delivered a breakfast pack with ham, cheese, yoghurt, bread and pastries, eggs, tea, and coffee.

There on after, you’ll receive a daily delivery of freshly baked baguettes and pastries.

Similarly, on the first day, you’ll be delivered a lunch ingredient pack containing ham, cheese, chutney, cucumber, tomatoes, butter and some clingfilm so you can wrap your lunch.

After that, you’ll receive a daily delivery of freshly baked french baguettes.

For afternoon tea, you’ll receive a different freshly baked cake except on Wednesday. Cakes include but are not limited to; pina colada cake with rum icing, lemon cake with lemon and cream cheese icing, and a deliciously guilty dark chocolate cake with chocolate icing.

Here’s a sample menu for your two-course dinner:

  • “Diots”, the famous Savoyard pork smoked sausage, braised in a white wine and carrot gravy, baked Macaroni Pasta in a creamy sauce with fresh spinach and ricotta
  • 70% dark chocolate custard with diced brownie and hazelnut mousse. Served in individual pud-pots

Your hosts

Your hosts, a team run by Andy and Sylvie, can help with every aspect of your trip. They are an unlikely pairing from totally different backgrounds but between them, they have the complimentary skills required to run the business effectively.

Your hosts won’t be present in the chalet, but they are a phone call away if you need them.

They share a passion for exceptional customer service and are both present in the chalets every day throughout the winter.

They probably love skiing more than you do, and so they know exactly what makes a great ski trip.

Chalet Layout

On the ground floor, you’ll find a large boot room, some ski racks and a drying area for your ski clothes. There’s also a laundry room with a washing machine and a tumble dryer, some garage space and table tennis table.

On the 1st floor, you’ll find the open plan kitchen and living space as well as an ensuite twin bedroom. There’s plenty of comfortable seating, a music centre with an iPod dock, the book exchange library and sliding doors leading out to the terrace.

This chalet sits in a spectacular spot in the hamlet of Les Prodains, at an altitude of 1200 metres and a 5-minute drive from Morzine at the head of the Vallee des Ardoisieres.

The terrace to the rear offers views back down the valley to Morzine and leads on to acres of wide open space for sledging and building snowmen in the shadow of the magnificent Hauts Forts , one of the highest peaks in the Chablais region.

The resort of Avoriaz is perched on top of the cliffs and can be reached quickly via chairlift or the new jumbo gondola constructed in the summer of 2012.

From Avoriaz, a blue piste with reliable snow cover runs all the way back down to Les Prodains. More experienced skiers will be able to leave the piste to ski across the snowy field to the terrace of the chalet.

Anyone still wishing to access Morzine for skiing or après ski can do so by the ‘A’ Line bus that runs 10 minutes between Morzine and Les Prodains.

That said; when it comes to après ski or chalet night off there are plenty of bars and restaurants within a few minutes’ walk in Les Prodains. The nearest is just 150 metres away and your hosts can recommend some great options to suit all tastes from traditional Savoyard fayre to pizza or steaks.

Can my dietary requirements be catered for?

Chalet Kitchen can prepare the main courses without gluten, both the meat dishes and vegetarian dishes. Please note though there maybe still be traces of gluten in the meals. We do not offer gluten free desserts (though if you’d like us to provide some fruit as a dessert instead we can do that.)

Some of the meals may contain traces of nuts. The meals do however contain eggs and dairy and there is unfortunately not a dairy free option.

Do you offer separate children’s meals?

Our normal meals are designed to be enjoyed by adults and children alike. There is another children’s ingredient pack for you should you prefer it, all you need to do is ask!

What happens on the chalet day off?

Chalet Kitchen staff will have a day off, so as a result, you will not receive your breakfast delivery and afternoon teas on a Wednesday. Chalet Kitchen will deliver your two-course meals on 6 days out of 7. On this day, You’ll have an opportunity to sample some of the local restaurants.

If you need any advice or suggestions, feel free to ask your knowledgeable hosts.
