This 700km journey takes you through all the famous Tour climbs and many lesser known ones too. It will include Col du Tourmalet, Col d’Aubisque, Col du Soulor, Col d’Aspin, Port de Balès, Col de Peyresourde, Hautacam and many more.

Who is this trip aimed at?

The Tour des Pyrenees is a big week of consecutive rides. Each day will consist of between 85-140km and an average of 2500m of climbing.

Usually, but not always, riders on this trip will have ridden long alpine or Pyrenean climbs before.

VAM rating

Riders on this trip would need to be capable of climbing at a rate of at least 750 metres/hour for sustained periods.

What’s included?

  • Six days of fully supported rides (mechanical assistance, vehicle support, guides)
  • Seven nights accommodation, twin share

  • Transfers to and from Toulouse airport
  • Informal evening lectures available from a qualified cycling coach offering training advice in preparation for cycling events

The Schedule

Saturday Aug 27th: Arrival in Toulouse

  • Ideally on a flight arriving before midday. Collection from Carcassonne airport may also be possible on request)

Sunday Aug 28th: Foix to Massat - 105km - 2400m climbing

  • A beautiful introduction to the Pyrenees with the Port de Lers, Col d’Agnes, Col de Latrape and Col de Saraillé all on the agenda.

Monday Aug 29th: Massat to Bagnères de Luchon - 140km - 3000m climbing

  • Portet d’Aspet, Col de Menté and the HC climb of Port de Balès will make up another big day.

Tuesday Aug 30th: Bagnères de Luchon to St Lary - 90km - 2600m climbing

  • Super Bagneres, Col de Peyresourde and Col d’Azet

Wednesday Aug 31st: St Lary to Argelés Gazost - 110km - 2500m climbing

  • Col d’Aspin followed by the Col du Tourmalet.

Thursday Sep 1st: Argelés Gazost to Argelés Gazost - 120km - 2600m climbing

  • Col de Marie Blanque followed by Col d’Aubisque

Friday Sep 2nd: Argelés Gazost to Argelés Gazost

  • Distance and climbing dependent on route choice on the day

  • A choice of Hautacam, Cautarets, Gavarnie, Luz Ardiden or even another assault on the Tourmalet!

Saturday Sep 3rd: Departure

  • Transfer to Toulouse Airport (transfer to Carcassonne airport may also be possible on request) after assisting you with packing bikes. Transfer to Toulouse airport will be around 10am with a view to catching flights from 2pm onwards.
