For those looking for a guided trip we can supply one of the local guides to show you all the best climbs descents and routes in the area. You can tick the Pyrenees’ best cols off from your list or ride epic loops on some of Europe’s best roads.

Sumptuous Food Prepared by our in-house Chef

Accommodation is on half-board basis comprising a full continental breakfast and a four course evening meal, including wine and coffee for six nights. At the end of a full day in the mountains, you will sit down to a sumptuous menu lovingly prepared by our own in-house chef, who will introduce you to local and world food dishes all made with fresh locally sourced seasonal ingredients. On one night of your stay, our chef takes a well-deserved break, giving you the opportunity to explore the local restaurants. (All dietary requirements can be catered for but must be made known to us at time of booking.) Packed lunches are available on request.

Situated in the heart of the Louron Valley, l’Ancienne Poste will be your base during your stay. Built in 1864 and previously the village Post Lodge, it has now been lovingly restored to a high standard of comfort whilst retaining many of the original features, like the exposed beams and stonework, giving the lodge a very cosy but spacious feel.

Rooms with en-suite Facilities

The lodge has six well-appointed rooms each with en suite bathrooms, offering many rooming possibilities for catering up to 12 guests. The rooms consist of:

  • 2 double rooms
  • 1 triple single room (3 single beds)
  • 2 twin room (2 single beds)
  • 1 bunk bed room

Relax in front of the Wood Burning Stove

As well as their rooms, all guests will have access to a large, rustic lounge / dining room with fabulous views over the mountains. There’s a well-stocked bar, home cinema system with Sky TV package and free wifi. Those guests preferring a more tranquil room will enjoy the adjoining snug / reading room to relax in. Both lounges are heated by wood-burning stoves giving a very cosy feel.

Garden and Balcony with Stunning Views

During the summer season guests will also be able to enjoy our enclosed private garden and balcony with stunning views of the surrounding mountain peaks to while away those warm summer evenings.

Reducing our Carbon Footprint

At l’Ancienne Poste the environment is important to us and we try to keep our carbon footprint to a minimum. We recycle as much as possible and during the renovation of the lodge we took great care to use only environmentally friendly and locally sourced materials. The lodge is very well insulated with double glazing throughout and this, coupled with our modern, energy-efficient central heating / hot water heat exchange system, minimises our energy needs. All wood for our stoves is carefully sourced from local well-managed forests.

Minimising Muddy Footprints!

Simple slippers will be provided but please feel free to bring your own. Outdoor footwear is not permitted inside the lodge.
