Etape du Tour

This weekend includes reconnaissance of the route for the Etape du Tour, Stage 20 of the 2016 Tour de France. The route goes directly past our hotel in La Clusaz, starting in Megève and crossing the col des Aravis, the col de la Colombière, the col de la Ramaz and the col de Joux-Plane. This is a very challenging route with each climb getting successively tougher: Joux-Plane has the reputation of being the hardest climb in the northern Alps. The last three descents are unusually challenging for the Etape du Tour, being steep, fast, technical and therefore potentially dangerous.

If you are riding the Etape du Tour in July, prior knowledge of the route through a proper reconnaissance will make a huge difference to your performance and enjoyment of the day.

Morzine Haut-Chablais

On Sunday you will ride in the Morzine Haut Chablais sportive. We highly recommend this local Alpine event. It includes the col de la Ramaz, which will also be in the Etape du Tour and the Tour de France in 2016. There’s no better way to prepare for an Alpine sportive than riding in one…

Hotel Beauregard

Your luxury Alpine home away from home

We loved the Beauregard at first sight. Our guests stay here in June and September each year. Our flagship partner hotel is a charming chalet on the edge of the village of La Clusaz. Built in traditional Alpine wood and stone and tastefully decorated throughout, it is set on a slight rise and nestled in a copse of trees, giving it a secluded and exclusive feel. This is a great place to be on holiday!

Helpful staff

The staff are lovely people, warm and welcoming, and thoroughly understand the needs of cyclists. The “Symphonie” restaurant is a real high point, offering excellent food that is great for hungry cyclists. The chef is very flexible and is always ready to cater to specific needs and requests. He also knows how important it is to start the day with an excellent breakfast!

The terrace The terrace is THE place for evening cocktails in La Clusaz, with breathtaking views to the forested slopes of Beauregard on the other side of the valley. Many of the recently-refurbished rooms enjoy this view from their private balconies. Luxurious and comfortable, they provide an excellent night’s sleep after a day on the cols.

Pool and mini-spa

Swim in the pool or relax in the sauna, hammam or Jacuzzi: all perfect for soothing away the aches and pains of a hard day’s ride. As at its sister hotel Alpen Roc, access to all facilities, as well as free Wi-Fi, is included in your stay.

The top hotel in La Clusaz

For us, the 4* Beauregard is the top hotel in La Clusaz. After a week here with us, we are sure you will understand why.

  • Col des Aravis
  • Col de la Colombiere
  • Col de la Ramaz
  • Col de Joux-Plane and many others… There are at least 27 different climbs reachable on the bike from La Clusaz!
