The mighty Dolomites in North Italy are perfectly located in the northeast corner of Italy near Switzerland and Austria. This stunning area has one of the most spectacular mountain ranges in the European Alps. The Dolomites is a real cycling paradise for every keen cyclist. Here you will experience one of the most challenging cycling tracks and mythical climbs. The Grande Strada delle Dolomiti (Great Dolomites Road) makes cycling perfect, with good asphalt and scenic roads. This terrain is famous for its biggest Gran Fondo event in Italy: the Maratona dles Dolomites with over 9.000 cyclists every year. You climb and descend many incredible mountain summits of the Giro d’Italia. The climbs to Passo Sella, Passo Campolongo, Passo Gardena, Tre Cime and of course one of the most famous climbs in the Dolomites : the climb to the summit of Passo Giau 2233m are first class challenges! This trip is only recommendable for fit cyclist; you really must be fit and healthy. You will face spectacular mountain passes on this cycle the Dolomites tour. You cycle over safe roads and leave the heavy traffic routes behind you. Hop on your bike and enjoy this incredible cycling adventure in the heart of the Dolomites, a region which has become a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most fascinating and charming destinations in the entire world!

Accommodation

Dolomiti B&B is located in La Villa, a 5-minute walk from the Gran Risa ski slopes. This traditional mountain guest house offers the standards of a 3/4-star hotel.. Overlooking the Dolomites, the rooms feature unique styles and décor. The restaurant serves excellent food with typical traditional Trentino dishes. Guests can relax in the common lounge, which features a fireplace. There is a free Wi-Fi internet point and a swimming pool.

Location

There are 5 different routes however you may change the routes yourself of course. The stages are the most scenic and challenging.

  • Pink route. The Dolomites are waiting for you! You first start with the bike fitting. After assembling the bike you will ride the “Sellaronda course”: the “Sella Ronda bike day” (62 km - 1.780 m. difference in height) which includes Passo Campolongo (5.8 km and 6.1% avg), Passo Pordoi (9.2 km and 6.9% avg), Passo Sella (5.5 km and 7.9 avg), Passo Gardena (5.8 km and 4,3%). Cycling distance 62 km- 1780 meters of climbing.
  • Green Route. This is a short Maratona dles Dolomites route. Today on your program the climbs to Passo Campolongo and Passo Giau. The Campolongo Pass is the first of the seven Dolomites Mountain passes that cyclist will tackle during the Maratona dles Dolomites Gran Fondo. The pass is the only one of the seven to be ascended twice. The Passo Giau is 10.12 km long, with its highest point at 2236 m and a total of 10.12 km climbing. The average climbing on this Passo Giau is 9.1%.Cycling distance 85km - Route elevation 2.400 m.
  • Red Route. Today will be a another tough day in the saddle. You get breath-taking views that will remain impressed in your heart forever! Start in front of our B&B and directly you will face the climb to Passo Gardena at 2121m altitude. There follows a long descent and after approximately 60 km the route goes up to Passo di Eores Kofel Joch at 1863 altitude. From here you continue to Passo del Erbe. The top is located at 2003m and joins the Valley of Alta Badia with the valley of d’Isarco. You will be awarded with stunning views over Mount Plose, Sass de Pütia and the Odles. Here the Giro d’italia wrote its epic pages. Cycling distance 108km - Route elevation 3466 m.
  • Blue route. After yesterday stage it’s time to relax with a short route that covers Passo Campolongo, Passso Falzarego and the Valparola pass. Enjoy the Dolomites. Departing from La Villa, you will gently climb up over quite countryside roads. Here you will find only the local cows as spectators. It’s a simple climb to warm up and stretch your legs for the next two summits. Before freewheeling down back to our B&B. Cycling distance 52km - Route elevation 1442 m.
  • Orange Route. Unfortunately your last cycling day. Today’s stage leads you over the Furkel Pass also called Passo Furcia. Difficulty of today’s route is medium. From la Villa the route goes North to South Tirol. At San Vigilio start the loop ride around the Enneberg Valley. This location has the entrance to one of most beautiful valleys of the Dolomites. The valleys which reach deepest into the Dolomites, the Enneberg Valley, makes San Vigilio an excellent base for nature lovers. Highest point of today will be Passo Furcia at an altidude of 1759m. Cycling distance 86 km- 2236 meters of climbing.

This great event started in 1987 and these days more than 8500 cyclist joining the number one Gran Fondo in Italy. The Maratona dles Dolomites is a “must do” event and a once in your life time experience for every cyclist! The great success of the Maratona dles Dolomites is based on the excellent organisation and the beautiful region of the Dolomites. The whole ambience of the event is outstanding. You can choose the following options: The Maratona Course 138km with 4190 challenging climbing meters The middle Maratona Course with 3090 challenging climbing meters The Sella Ronda Course with 1780 challenging climbing meters Enjoy your day! The start and finish will be in our own village La Villa! You will tackle the following passes Campolongo (1875 m) Pordoi (2239 m) Sella (2244 m) Gardena (2136 m) Campolongo - again! (1875 m)a Giau Pass (2236 m) Falzarego (2105m) Valparola (2168m).
