Day 1: Hotel Check In.

Rendezvous at the group’s hotel accommodation in Maspalomas. Timed transfers will be provided from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Airport on this day and the driving time is approximately half an hour. Cycle Gran Canaria Land Only package services begin with dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 2: Maspalomas to Maspalomas.

After picking up the hire bikes, today’s local ride gives us the chance to stretch our legs and check out our bikes before the tour ahead. The main climb of the day is a 9 kilometre climb to the mountain village of Soria (900m). We have a restaurant stop, where you can buy lunch, before we ride back to the hotel.

Ride distance 69 km (43 miles) with 1103 metres of ascent and descent.

Day 3: Maspalomas to San Bartholome.

The ride gets serious today, striaght into a 6km 7% ave to the Mirador, then after a short descent, continuous back to 980m, a tough 30km loop around Temisas and then lunch before the final 5km climb back to our hotel at Las Tirajanas at close to 1000 metres, where we have great evening views.

Ride distance 68 km (45 miles) with 1823 metres of ascent and 866 metres of descent.

Day 4: San Bartholome to Tejeda

We start out with a 23 kilometre climb to the roof of the island at Pico de las Nieves (1951m), beyond which we drop down to the farming village of Vega de San Mateo. A maze of quiet roads then takes us back up again to our hotel at Las Tirajanas 1000m.

Ride distance 66 km (42 miles) with 2070 metres of ascent and 1512 metres of descent.

Day 5: San Bartholmew to Agaeta

Today we head into the great unknown! The cross over to the north proper means that we’ll leave the south and the tourist cyclists behind. From here on everything changes, the scenery, the weather, the views! Look for the shepards with flocks of sheep and the ferry that seems to sail in the sky, the bright red earth and the glory of swimming the natural pools of the ocean next to our wonderful seaside hotel of Roca Negra in Agaeta.

Ride distance 72 km (28 miles) with 1566 metres of ascent and 2050 metres of descent.

Day 6: Agaeta to Mogan

Heading south through the Tamadaba National Park, our route is cut into the island’s dramatic western coastline. After lunch at San Nicholas we climb to the cyclists stop-off, the Juice Bar. We each the crest after 54 kilometres and from here it’s downhill to our hotel in picturesque Puerto de Mogan.

Ride distance 68 km (43 miles) with 1678 metres of ascent and 1698 of descent.

Day 7: Mogan Ayacata Maspalomas

Today, we leave the coast and ride back up the road to the village of Mogan. From here, we ride the 9 kilometre ‘Serenity’ ascent to a great viewpoint at 950 metres. The shorter of 2 options from this point descends via Soria to the coast and an ice-cream stop in Melonares. The longer option goes up to Ayacata and adds 60km more! Overnight in Maspalomas.

Ride distance 73 km (45 miles) with 1744 metres of ascent and descent.

Day 8: Check Out.

Cycle Gran Canaria Land Only package services end after breakfast. Timed transfers to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Airport are provided.

  • First 2 and last night of our stay at hotel Cordial Green Golf.
  • Las Tirajanas where we spend the next 2 nights.

On our circuit of Gran Canaria we ride on quiet mountain roads, through isolated villages and in pretty remote territory. Crossing the island’s central massif and averaging 60+ kilometres (38 miles) a day, we’ll accumulate a total of over 8000 metres of ascent and descent. On our 5-day journey around the island we are totally supported - at the start of the day when the group sets off biking, your kit will be loaded into the support vehicle and transported to the next overnight halt. We must stress that apart from the spares and tools you would take on any day ride you will not be required to carry any luggage. Awesome riding, characterful accommodation, and a sensational circular route make this an exhilarating experience away from the gloom of the British winter.
