Service back to top

The perfect base for individual, group or family cycling holidays in the Pyrenees; from novices to would-be professionals. Enjoy the advice of Steve, an Etape and sportive specialist and British Cycling qualified coach! Try one of his training camps, let him guide you on local rides or simply use his routes and maps to find your own way.

We have a selection of bikes to hire:

  • Our road bikes are all aluminium-framed with Shimano parts and either compact or triple chain-sets (perfect for all those small inclines in the vicinity)
  • Our mountain bikes (including child sizes) are great for having a bit of fun on local tracks and paths
  • When hiring, there’s no need to bring your own pedals as we have a full range, depending on your shoes, and all bikes can be hired with helmets and a tool kit too

If you have your own bike, there’s a large, secure storage room and plenty of space for bike boxes;

  • As a former bike mechanic, Steve has an extensive workshop for any repairs you may need and we stock a small selection of tubes and cables.

Accommodation back to top

There are five en-suite bedrooms, which can sleep one, two, three or four people with double or single beds as required. As a “chambres d’hotes”, the house can sleep a maximum of 15 people. Each room is equipped with tea and coffee-making facilities, pool towels, hair-dryer and toiletries.

Our Pla d’Adet bedroom has balconies running around two sides, a view of the swimming pool and terrace, a dressing-room and spa bath.

Luz Ardiden also has a balcony with table and chairs and a view of the pool and terrace area.

The Tourmalet bedroom has a kitchenette and views across the beautiful foothills. Together with the Col d’Aspin bedroom, these two rooms can be used as a family suite as they are back to back in the very oldest part of the house.

Lastly is our Hautcam bedroom on the ground floor, which again has views across the foothills and a kitchenette.

All the rooms can have a cot or extra bed added at no additional cost.

As a converted farmhouse, there is plenty of communal space inside as well as out.

There is a large living room with fireplace, piano, sofas and chairs, a television with free-sat channels, DVD player, I-pod dock/CD player and views across the garden and terraced area.

The dining room is where you will have breakfast, and dinners if you so chose, and also has a stock of chocolate bars, soft-drinks, beers, wine, energy products and bike spares for you to buy. There is a high-chair for babies and toddlers.

There is a small gym with all the usual machines - an exercise bike, running machine, weights bench, punch bag, rowing machine, steppers etc. In the winter, or in bad weather, it is also used as a base for turbo-training or roller sessions.

Upstairs there is a games room with a pool table, darts, table football, various board games and books for you to borrow.

Also at your disposal, but in the private area of the house, is a drying room where any wet gear can be hung to dry out. We also provide a laundry service.

The garden has a swimming pool and play equipment for young children. There is a large lawn for ball games, plenty of trees to climb or hide behind and you may just see one of our cats, Ruby or Tawny, patrolling their territory. In his part of the garden is our three-legged Pointer, Milka, and we have a separate area for our cockerels & chickens, that we keep for eggs, and our Shetland pony called Spirit. There are many fruit trees in the grounds too - depending on the time of year, you will see pears, cherries, plums, walnuts, figs and peaches. The donkey in the field opposite the house is called Hamish.

The sun terrace, accessible from the spiral staircase, is brilliant for sun-worshippers as you can catch the rays all day long. A covered terrace has tables and chairs for eating outside and if you want to cater for yourselves our two barbecues are a big favourite.

Many of the rides suggested below are possible setting off from the house and then cycling back again. Another option is to use our DROP-OFF service, where you and your bikes will be transported to the foot of the climb and you are then free to cycle one or two climbs before rolling back down the valley to the house. The same is possible in reverse, with you cycling down the valley to the col/s in question and then requesting PICK UP at the bottom later in the day.

The cols

  • Tourmalet (eastern climb) & Col d’Aspin (west ascent)
  • Col d’Aspin (east approach) & Peyresourde (west side)
  • Aubisque & Hautacam
  • Luz Ardiden & Tourmalet (western approach)
  • Pla d’Adet & Col d’Azet
