Service

Our apartment is on the first and second floors, accessed via an easy-to-use spiral staircase. It sleeps up to 7 adults (or up to 8 if kids are in the party) in 1 double and 2 twin rooms, with a fold-down bed for use in the larger twin room or it could be put up in the living room. There is a travel cot and high chair in the flat. Please let us know if you would like these made available. Click here to go to our special kids’ page. There are two bathrooms (I with bath and shower, I just a shower, both with WCs).

The flat is centrally heated and there is a utility room with a washing machine, iron and ironing board. All linen, including towels, is provided and the kitchen is well equipped. The television gives you several English speaking channels, as well as French ones and we also supply you with at least a day’s worth of coffee, tea, sugar, milk and toilet paper as well as the basics of cooking oil, salt and pepper. And a welcome bottle of wine. The rental price covers gas, electricity, broadband, wireless & phone calls (except those to mobiles or special numbers.) Also covered is cleaning at the end of your stay. The only extra is a bond of 220 Euros, 200 pounds sterling or NZ$400. This will be returned to you within a week of you leaving, unless we need it for repairs, to pay for phone calls to mobiles and special numbers or for extra cleaning. Please let us know if you would like to pay the bond in Euros, Sterling or NZ$s. We will return it in the currency in which you paid it.

Accommodation

The apartment is one of several in a recently refurbished three story building that was once a hotel. On the first floor there is an open plan living room including a well-equipped kitchen. The living room opens onto a balcony which overlooks the courtyard. There is a separate utility room containing a washing machine and dryer. Stairs lead up from the living room to the three bedrooms (one double, two twins), the bathroom and the shower room; each of these has a WC.

Outside is a charming, shared, enclosed courtyard with a pedestrian gate and the property has access to a secure ground floor storage area suitable for bikes, skis and so on. There is free parking available nearby in the town centre. The property was recently renovated to a high standard. It is over 80m2 and is centrally heated. We have broadband, wireless and a phone with free calls to landlines (excluding special numbers). Bagnères-de-Bigorre, close to the Pyrenees, has a fabulous thermal spa bath. Many people also come here to ‘take the cure’ provided by the purported health benefits of the local water. There is also a casino, a swimming pool, cinema, museum, a marvellous market and mini-golf. It’s a lovely location, a river flows through the town and there are amazing views of the surrounding countryside and mountains. Several restaurants offer a variety of cuisines including the local specialities.

Location

The town is also ideally situated for all sorts of sporting activities, including cycling, hiking, fishing, climbing, golf, canoeing and skiing in the winter - the nearest ski resort, La Mongie, the largest in the Pyrenees, is less than 30 minutes drive away! From Bagnères-de-Bigorre you can easily get to many other attractions such as the sanctuary at Lourdes, the Pic du Midi observatory and the Cirque du Gavarnie (a UNESCO world heritage site). Pau is a lovely town to visit and the Atlantic coast and Spain are accessible for day trips. The nearest airports are Pau (I hour drive away), Tarbes (30 minutes) and Toulouse (1 hour 40 minutes).
