Our Pyrenees to the Mediterranean Road Riding holiday follows many of the beautiful and tranquil country roads that have made the Girona region so famous as a road riding destination. The riding starts in the mountain town of Ripoll where you will get your first views of some of the stunning peaks of the Pyrenees on your way to Olot, the capital of the La Garrotxa volcanic region.

Your next day’s ride encompasses some of the prettiest scenery of the La Garrotxa Volcanic region of Girona. You will pass by timeless medieval villages surrounded by lush forests and fertile farmland that are picture perfect to stop for a photo.

The next day of riding heads towards Girona city following one of the lovely ‘hidden’ valleys with its rolling hills and rocky outcrops surrounding you as you ride downhill almost all the way to the Medieval centre of Girona city.

Your second day in Girona city is spent riding one of the favourite Girona road riding routes through tranquil countryside. The following day you cycle towards the coast through the lovely rolling countryside before a short climb into the Les Gavarres coastal mountain range and then a lovely descent to the Mediterranean Sea. Your hotel is right by the water in a fantastic 4 star hotel with its ‘Spa and Treatment’ centre. This is your base for two nights, where you will experience some of the most stunning coastal riding available pretty much anywhere.

Day 1 - Pyrenees Warm up ride - 40 km

A great warm up ride to get accustomed to the un-crowded and beautiful riding that the Pyrenees mountain area offers. The ride is about 40 km in length and includes a taste of some of the great road riding still to come. There is the option to extend this day of riding, depending on your arrival time.

Day 2 - Pyrenees mountain loop - 90 km

Today’s ride takes you up and over some stunning peaks in the Pyrenees. The scenery is classic mountain country with high peaks in all directions with timeless villages dotted along your route. There are some great climbs mixed in with swooping descents that will keep you on your toes (and brakes!) as the scenery goes buzzing by.

Day 3 - Olot to Girona - 105 km

This is one of the great Girona road rides with some of the most spectacular scenery on offer in the whole of the region. There is plenty of time to set your rhythm with some quality climbing and buzzing descents that just seem to go on and on. This ride will clearly explain why so many professional riders choose Girona as their winter training base!

Day 4 - Les Gavarres loop 1 – 70 km

Today’s ride heads out the same valley as yesterday before climbing ‘up and over’ into another adjacent valley for the return to Girona. There is another short ‘up and over’ to return to Girona via the same route as yesterday’s ride.

Day 5 - Girona to the Mediterranean Sea - 60 km

Today you leave Girona heading for the coast, cycling along the rolling Girona countryside before heading towards the coast for your first good climb up and over the coastal L’Ardenya range. Once at the coast you join the famous Tossa de Mar road that was part of the ‘2009 Tour de France’ stage from Girona to Barcelona. Your route follows the beautiful coastal road as it hugs the sea towards Sant Feliu de Guixols where you are based for the final two nights of your tour.

Day 6 - Les Gavarres loop 2 - 100 km

Your last ride of the week is spent climbing and descending the beautiful country roads through the Pine and Cork forests of the ‘Les Gavarres’ coastal mountain range. There are three great climbs and descents before returning back to the sea to your hotel for a well earned rest after a fantastic week of riding!
