Service back to top

When you book a self- catering gite you get much more than just a gite. Evening meals are a time to meet and socialise with other guests. The large garden is a peaceful place to pull up a lounger and relax under a tree or in the shade. Our large converted outside ‘Grange’ is where guests socialise, relax, eat and watch the Tour de France or other significant races. Being based in a large market village, a short stroll will take you to the heart of ‘downtown’ St.Jean-en-Royans with its selection of cafes, restaurants and boutique shops. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly with a feeling of ‘turning back the clock’ 30 years.

As an addition we offer breakfast which are served on the terrace and include organic ‘home made’ muesli, organic walnuts from our tree, yoghurt, fruit, juice, fresh bread and croissants, jams, ‘bean to grain’ coffee or tea.

Our 3 Self-Catering Gites can accommodate a maximum of 4 people (2 bedrooms), 5 (2 bedrooms) and 6 persons (3 bedrooms) giving you the option to book as a couple, family or a group of up to 15 people.

Each gite has a private terrace and BBQ and are situated alongside a small canal with a backdrop of the Vercors. They are independent of us in the main house but we are on hand should we be needed to offer advice on the best route for the day, any local info or general advice.

The climbs reach up to 1400m in altitude, range from 6-20kms in length with gentle average gradients that tend to range from 5% to 7% with the odd 10% to be found. The Vercors offer a real challenge but in a much friendlier way than the high Alps allowing rests in between cols and the opportunity to make mid-ride decisions to increase or cut short the ride depending on how you are feeling. For example, it’s possible to do daily rides of 120kms and climb 3000m (1/3 the height of Mount Everest).

On days when you don’t want to cycle up a Alpine climb, head west to the rolling hills of the Drome to experience a different landscape and visit St. Antoine d’abbaye - one of France’s prettiest hilltop villages with its 11th Century Abbey, sculptures, potters and some great restaurant lunch stops.

If its flatter routes you’re after we can offer you various routes along the Isere Valley ranging from 20kms- 100kms and lots of shorter family / tourist routes.
