This supported tour traces a full circuit of the infamous Marmotte Sportive over 3 days and 4 nights, starting and finishing in Morzine with two remote overnight stops.

We will also provide your transfers from Geneva airport. You are free to arrive early on the Wednesday and leave late on Sunday to enjoy 2 extra days of exceptional riding in the Morzine area: choose some of the best routes in the region from our self-guided route library.

The Marmotte 4 night Tour offers a mind-blowing cycling experience, over the course of a long weekend. We take you deep into the heart of the French Alps, the spiritual home of cycling. Each day on tour you will ride two world-class climbs.

Expect to climb from a lush warm summer Alpine valley, surrounded by every hue of green, to find yourself, after a long and gruelling ascent, surrounded by snow-capped peaks in a barren unforgiving tundra. Tuck in to a spine-tingling descent for an entire kilometre vertical, and then do it all again.

Our staff in support minibuses will continually leap-frog the group with iced water, energy gels, bars, bananas, spare kit etc., and are on hand to assist with mechanical issues as and when they occur. Feel free to hitch a ride if you would prefer to save yourself for later in the week. We manage the group so that everyone can ride at the pace that they are comfortable with, and will regroup regularly, and always at the top of a col.

Whether it is the 21 hairpins of Alpe d’Huez that is your personal quest, or the bleak wilderness of Col du Galibier that you wish to conquer, there is no question that on this tour you will experience some of the most notorious and sensational cycling on the planet.

Alpine weather & cycling kit

Whilst the weather in the Alps in the summer is invariably sunny and warm it must be remembered that conditions in the mountains can and do change quickly. It’s not unknown for snow to fall on the higher passes even in July. It follows that you should bring cycling clothes for all conditions. Arm warmers are sometimes useful in the early mornings, rain tops and/or gilets are essential for the long descents where the combination of altitude and wind chill can be a real problem.
