Service

Do you want to enjoy our unique Giro Experience but can only take a short break? Then this tour is for you. Ride on the best part of the stage mere hours before the pros with our experienced guides and complete vehicle support. Watch the riders fight for the pink jersey from the roadside with the fans or in the Giro VIP area, a glass of prosecco in hand. Relax and enjoy local cuisine, wine and la bella vita.

Itinerary

Day 1 - 19 May - Arrival

We will meet you at the airport and drive you to our hotel, the Castello di Buttrio. Once the bikes are assembled, we will go for a short ride and watch today’s Giro stage from Noale to Bibione on TV before enjoying authentic Friulian food at Castello di Buttrio’s Locanda.

Day 2 - 20 May - Ride every kilometer of stage 14, 70 or 161km

Big day today. We start early from Palmanova to ride every kilometre of the Giro’s stage to Cividale del Friuli in the Eastern Julian Alps. With 3,400m of climbing for 161km, it will be a true test for the legs and a highlight of your Grand Tours Project. It is also possible to stop after the first crossing of the finish line at km 70. For the next two nights we are staying in Corvara in the heart of the Dolomites.

Day 3 - 21 May - On the roads of the Marathona dles Dolomites, 55, 106 or 138km

The final part of today’s stage is on the same roads as the Maratona dles Dolomites. It is one the most prestigious granfondos in the world which you can also take part in with Grand Tours Project from June 26 to July 4. Just like the Maratona, choose between 3 different courses : 55, 106 or 138km. All of them feature some of the most prestigious passes of the Dolomites such as Passo Pordoi (2,239m) and Passo Gardena (2,121m).

Day 4 - 22 May - Castelrotto - Alpe di Siusu individual time trial, 60km

For our final day on the bike, we ride from Corvara to Castelrotto over Passo Gardena and on to the finish of today’s 10.8km individual time trial stage up Alpe di Siusi at 1,844m. We will celebrate the completion of our Grand Tours Project with a dinner in Brixen where we spend our last night.

Day 5 - 23 May - Departure

Third rest day for the Giro as we have our last doppio espresso and transfer to Venice Marco Polo Airport. Congratulations, you are now part of the Grand Tours Project family!

Accommodation

Castello di Buttrio

Located in a historic castle, Castello di Buttrio offers elegant country-style accommodation in the countryside of Buttrio. With a garden, the property is a 20-minute drive from Udine.

Featuring garden views, the air-conditioned rooms come with free Wi-Fi and satellite TV. The private bathroom includes a hairdryer and free toiletries.

A continental breakfast is served daily in the breakfast room. There is also a restaurant serving local cuisine.

Castello di Buttrio is a 30-minute drive from Gorizia.

Location

In 4 days of riding, you’ll discover the wonderful region of Friuli and the mighty Dolomites, while watching the Giro d’Italia.
