 Itinerary

Day 1.

Starting in Roussillon, the first day of your bike tour will take you through amazing limestone gorges and vineyards with fabulous views of Mont Ventoux, the following days challenge! Our hotel for the night is in the lovely village of Bedoin, the starting point for the next day’s cycle up the mighty Mt Ventoux.

Day 2.

Today will have you climbing Mont Ventoux (1910m) made famous by the legends of the Le Tour De France, this route climbs up arguably the toughest side (from Sault being the ‘easiest side’) before swooping down the other side of the mountain, continuing on beautiful roads to the stunning medieval village of Montbrun-les-Bains.

Day 3.

On leaving Montbrun, we approach and climb over the impressive, slightly easier accent ‘sister of Mt Ventoux’ Col Du Lure (1745m) featured in the Paris to Nice classic with breath-taking views of the whole of Provence from the top. We finish the day with a descent all the way to the pretty town of Saint-Étienne-les-Orgues.

Day 4.

The following day we then traverse over from Provence into the Haute Provence region, travelling through more beautiful and photogenic scenery, todays route is a little less demanding hopefully leaving time for a swim or kayak in the aqua blue Lac de Sainte-Croix, at the bottom of the world renowned and impressive Grande Canyon Du Verdon, resting for the night in the beautiful medieval village of Moustiers-ste-marie.

Day 5.

Cycling the Grand Canyon Du Verdon is one of the most impressive road bike routes in France or indeed anywhere in Europe and is a true highlight of any trip with its hugely impressive 700m limestone cliffs. The road circles and follows the lip of the gorge, with superb views and plenty of photo opportunities! We finish the days riding in Castellane, a pretty village with interesting narrow streets to explore in the heart of the Haute Provence region.

Day 6.

The last day of cycling is no less spectacular with fabulous scenery climbing over the last col of the holiday before a long and gratifying descent all the way to the Cote D’Azur! Our route follows the dramatic ‘Gorges du loop’ with gorgeous vistas, this canyon is a wonderful way to finish the week. We continue to descend right to the beach, for celebratory ice-creams and beers! The following day we will transfer you and your bikes back to the airport in Nice.
