At 6:50am it’s time to embark through scenic fjords on a cozy coach as we make our way to Skjervøy (3-4 hours), this year’s whale hot spot! Today is full day so make sure you arrive well rested.

Along the way to Skjervøy you’ll be introduced to the science of studying these creatures. Upon arrival, we jump onboard our vessel with heated cabin/restroom and scour the seas for orcas and humpback whales. Enjoy a sandwich and warm-up with hot beverages.

Those who wish to sit back and enjoy the show are welcomed to, but guests who are eager to help with our research can assist us in collecting:

– Behavioural observations
– Photo-identification
– Underwater footage
– Vocal recordings

When the conditions are right, we deploy our hydrophone and listen to the enchanting songs of the whales, before making our way back to Tromso.

If we are lucky, we will get to see the lady aurora dancing in the sky as we make our way back for an evening of arctic adventure.

There’s nothing more authentic than driving your own dog team across the frozen artic wilderness. The friendly dogs love to run, get hugs and you will quickly discover the interaction between dogs and those on the sled. Your guide will give you expert advice that will ensure you’ll have a wonderful experience as a “musher”. Expect your heart to skip a beat when the aurora dance across the sky, changing colour and form.

Our Epic Weekends are very social in nature and we’ve seen lots of new friendships born out of them. Expect a mix of solo travelers and very small groups, all with a shared appreciation of escaping the city for the great outdoors to try something new and meet new people.

The vessel is 42 feet long with a heated cabin. It features a spacious deck outside for prime whale viewing. The group size is limited to just 25 people so you won’t be crowded at all.

You’ll be treated to high-quality food made with fresh, local ingredients where possible. On your first night in Tromso, you’ll enjoy a 4/5-course meal at either Emma’s Dream Kitchen or Fiskekompaniet, both outstanding restaurants that serves Norwegian fusion food with international influence.

Most diets can be accommodated. If you have dietary requirements please let us know in advance.
