Our Epic Weekends are very social in nature and we’ve seen lots of new friendships born out of them. Expect a mix of solo travelers and very small groups of 2 or 3, all with a shared appreciation of escaping the city for the great outdoors to try something new and meet new people.

This tour is suitable for anyone with a basic level of fitness. No previous hiking experience is required.

The climate in the Cyclades Islands is Mediterranean. From May to September the air temperature ranges from 20 – 25 °C, with the sea temperature lagging one degree behind. Days can often be breezy, especially on the water, but they’re also clear and sunny with practically no chance of rain.

Greek food is delicious! Typical menu items include Greek salad, fresh seafood, moussaka (kind of like lasagna), souvlaki (meat skewers served on a platter or in a wrap), and dolmades (stuffed grape leaves). Breakfasts are typically light, with fresh fruit, olives, and yogurt providing the staples. Santorini is famous for its local produce.

Santorini is a popular island to visit. Its most famous feature is the enormous, ancient caldera in its middle. Measuring 12 by 7 km, the caldera is connected to the sea at two points and is framed by 300 m tall cliff walls on three sides. Clinging to one of those cliffs is the town of Fira. Its cascading buildings are whitewashed with volcanic ash and provide a stark contrast to the deep blue sky above. The island is also known for its wine and its uniquely delicious vegetables.

Less than 2 hours away by ferry, Naxos is the largest island in the Cyclades group, providing ample opportunity for exploration and adventure. It is known in Greek lore as an early hangout of Zeus, who supposedly was raised in a cave on the flanks of Mount Zas. The island’s mountainous interior is dotted with charming villages, many of which are constructed from locally quarried white marble that makes them shine in the sun.
