The Food

The Hidden Alp’s food philosophy is very much about tasty home cooking with a conscience. All dishes are made from scratch and use good quality, ethically sourced ingredients where possible, including: organic or local red meat; free range chicken and eggs; local cheeses; and bottled wines from small regional producers. There is discount for vegetarians and can cater for gluten-free and other special diets.

Breakfast is a self-service buffet with a choice of tea, coffee or herbal tea, fresh fruit, bread, jams and fruit juice, a selection of cereals and a daily changing cooked dish.

Delicious home made afternoon cake or biscuits will be served upon your return from the slopes each day.

Each evening you’ll enjoy a 3 course meal served with good quality bottled house wines from traditional producers in the Rhone valley. Menus vary depending on the season and the cook’s fancy. Early 2 course meals are available for children if required.

Your Hosts

Sam and Alvaro are an English-Spanish couple who first ventured to the Paradiski in 2002 to run a ski chalet together. They fell in love with the mountains and never left. These days they’re based year-round in the mountains and offer a relaxing but fun break.

Chalet Layout

There’s plenty of space inside this chalet for socialising including a big play room/chill out space, quiet corners for reading or studying and even a separate TV room. It’s very peaceful too. Despite being so close to the ski slopes, the hamlet has managed to stay hidden and undeveloped. Children make snowmen and sledge in the village fields, deer and wild boar visit the gardens at night, and the sky is lit by stars and a few old fashioned street lamps.

The chalet is composed of two chalets, the main building and its annex, 5 metres apart. It can sleep up to 16, or 18 if at least 2 of the group are children. The bedrooms and bathrooms are arranged as follows:

Main building

  • Bedroom 1 (Montagnette): spacious double room (queen size bed 160x200cm or x2 80x200cm) with mountain views, sitting area and juliette balcony, free standing bath and ensuite shower room. There is space for an extra single bed.
  • Bedroom 2 (Pantoufle): twin / double room (king size bed 180x200cm or 2x 90x200cm), tongue-and-groove panelling, window seat with mountain views, wood floors and ensuite shower room
