Now in it’s 27th edition, the Playa de Palma Mallorca Cycling Challenge 2017 is a 4-day stage race around Mallorca that attracts the very best from the world of pro-cycling. Previous years have seen the likes of Bradley Wiggins and Andre Greipel battle it out for victory over 2017’s first major calendar event.

How fit do I need to be?

This trip is aimed at fit cyclists looking to experience both Mallorca’s famous roads and the thrill of road-side viewing a pro cycling race.. Each day’s riding is tailored to fit the group’s ability and the race’s schedule but is flexible enough to allow a range of abilities to enjoy the rides. No matter your cycling level you will never have to push yourself more than you’re comfortable with.

How many people in a group?

The minimum group size for this trip to run is 6. The maximum group size can be up to 30 - we may have three groups running on the same weekend.

What happens if there aren't enough cyclists?

Most our trips sell out fast but in the unlikely event that there aren’t enough riders to make up a group of 6 the trip may not go ahead. We will give you the option to pay more to ensure the trip goes ahead, offer alternative dates, or offer a full refund.

Can I come on my own?

Yes! It’s a great way to meet new like-minded people. You may be sharing a room with another solo traveller. If you want a room all to yourself, there will be a single supplement of £99 to pay.

Can I hire a bike?

Sure thing, we’ll recommend using Pro Bike Hire Mallorca which is opposite the hotel. Bike hire is roughly €20 per day depending on spec.

Can I bring my own bike?

Definitely. You will have access to secure bike storage and a maintenance area in the hotel. You’ll need to organise this separately with your airline. Let us know that you plan to do this when you make your booking.

What’s the weather like?

The weather in Mallorca in is warm all year round. However, in the early months of the year, it can be a bit fresh at the beginning of the day so we recommend that you pack arm and knee warmers and a rain jacket. From April onwards expect blue skies and sunshine unless you are very unlucky.

What's the food like?

The meals are very cycling friendly, with hot and cold options on a buffet menu - you definitely won’t go hungry!

What are the roads like?

Mallorca is a cycling Mecca, and as such the roads here are superbly well maintained. This trip is designed to explore the very best routes that Mallorca has to offer so you can rest assured no potholes will ruin your weekend!

Which flights should I book?

We recommend that you book onto one of the morning or early afternoon flights to Palma Mallorca. For the return, we recommend an evening flight to make the most of your time here! The hotel is approximately 30-40 minutes away. For extra financial protection against unforeseen circumstances, such as erupting Icelandic Volcanoes, we recommend you book your flights using a Credit Card.
