This is the perfect surf-and-turf weekend escape for active travelers who want a non-traditional Canary Islands experience.

What to Expect

Thursday: Arrival

Meet your guide at the Arrecife Airport in the afternoon and transfer to your hotel in the city.

Check in, review the weekend’s plan with your guide, then enjoy a free evening to relax.

Friday: Hiking Timanfaya National Park

Your guide will pick you up at your hotel after breakfast and drive you a short ways to Timanfaya National Park.

Twenty new volcanoes in the park were formed during an episode of volcanic activity just 300 years ago. Lava flows from the eruptions cover 25% of the islands’s surface, and lava tubes riddle the ground beneath your feet.

You’ll take a 5-hour trek through the volcanic moonscape of the park, climbing to the tops of various volcanoes, marveling at their craters, and enjoying a picnic lunch with sea views.

Return to your hotel in the late afternoon.

Distance: 12km Elevation: 300m

Saturday: Surfing

After breakfast your guide will take you to Famara Bay—the best surf spot on the island— for a full 6-hour surfing lesson.

Whether you’re brand new or experienced, your instructor will help you with technique and ensure you have a great day on the waves.

Break midday for a picnic lunch while gazing at Famara’s famous sea cliffs.

Head back to your hotel for one last peaceful night on the island.

Sunday: Departure

Linger over breakfast, then your guide will drive you to the airport to catch your flight home.

Note: This itinerary and the duration of the activities are subject to change due to group abilities and preferences, weather conditions and forecasts, special events, etc.

You’ll stay at the 3-star hotel Diamar in the heart of Arrecife, the capital city. The hotel is right on the sea, and features ensuite rooms with TV and wifi, and an onsite bar and restaurant serving delicious local food.
