It is placed within 2 minutes walk to the beach and just around the corner there are plenty of restaurants, bars and shops.

Ericeira is a sunny, whitewashed paradise of cobblestone streets, seafood restaurants and pavement cafes. In the main square, Praca da Republica, you can find well-preserved architecture, cake shops and lively bars.

Ericeira maintains its roots as a fishing town, but now it’s also known as a surfing destination. The famous Coxos Break and Ribeira d’Ilhas draw international surfing competitions every year.

With over 40 beaches and a wide variety of wave types, there’s something for everyone in Ericeira. You’ll be learning at Matadouro, a sheltered beach with bright blue water backed by scenic cliffs, located just a 15-minute walk from your villa.

Start point?
Your host will meet you at Lisbon Airport on Friday. Your host will be in touch before the trip to finalise details.

Finish point?
You will be dropped off at Lisbon Airport on Sunday evening. You are free to book any flight, but the later the better (~21:00) so you can enjoy a full day in Ericeira.

Your host will be in touch before the trip to finalise details.

Getting there and away?
Lisbon Airport (LIS) is served by frequent, inexpensive flights from Europe, including direct flights from London on a variety of airlines.

You can get any flights that suit you, but make sure they fit the times above so you don’t cut short your time in Ericeira. We will contact you before you leave to check your arrival and departure plans.

For extra financial protection against unforeseen circumstances such as erupting Icelandic volcanoes, we recommend you book your flights using a credit card.

There are five people to one guide.

Sure can! A lot of people do, and it’s a great way to meet like-minded people.

Our Epic Weekends are very social in nature and we’ve seen lots of new friendships born out of them. Expect a mix of solo travelers and very small groups of 2 or 3, all with a shared appreciation of escaping the city for the great outdoors to try something new and meet new people.

You’ll learn how to paddle, how to transition from paddling to standing, proper stance, balance techniques, etiquette and safety. You’ll also learn about wave physics, how to select your wave, where to position yourself on the wave, and how to get the timing right so you can ride it all the way to shore.

You don’t need any particular level of fitness to enjoy this trip, but you must be able to swim.

No previous surfing is needed. If you already have surfing experience your instructors will adapt the lessons to help you advance your skills.

Spring and fall temperatures range from 20 – 30 °C during the day, and 8 – 15 °C at night, and it’s sunny and clear most days.

In the summer temperatures range from 28 – 32 °C during the day, and cool off to 12 – 15 °C at night. It rarely rains in the summer, so you’re sure to get lots of sun.

Winter is also great for surfing because there is little wind. Daytime temperatures range from 12 – 18 °C during the day, and 5 – 8 °C at night, and it’s still sunny more than half the days each month.

All surf and SUP equipment is included. Don’t forget to pack:

  • Swimsuit and towel
  • Sun protection (waterproof sunblock, hat, sunglasses)
  • Light jacket for evenings
