I cannot put into words just how good this trip was. From the off, we were immersed in learning how to use our DSLR's. So much was crammed into three days, that it felt like we'd been there for a week.

This was one of the best weekends i have ever had the pleasure of being a part of, and the guides, Harry and Ben were not just highly knowledgable but also really top guys.

I cannot rate this trip highly enough, it blew my mind.

Lesley(May 2022)

Excellent

Tom(October 2021)

Overall a great trip, really well organised and the hosts were great, it was Scotland so the weather wasnt great but the hosts adapted to make sure we went to the right places at the right time!

Rod(September 2021)

Great. Your photography skills will improve! There is no doubt about that.

Alison(September 2021)

The trip was so full of memories I'll remember this forever. The two photographers was very knowledgeable and very patient to get just the right shot!

Damian(September 2021)

Absolutely loved this trip. The guides Harry and Ben were brilliant, I went from knowing very little about how to work my camera to take photos in full manual mode, and tips on composition. The locations and view points of the beauty spots were beautiful. The accommodation was good too very friendly staff great location with views over Uig Harbour. The early morning hikes for sunrise are well worth getting up out of bed for!!! The food was lovey too went for dinner and had the best fish and chips ive ever had washed down with a localy brewed beer. Would highly recommend this trip. I will be back

Chandralekha(October 2019)

Nick and Harry were brilliant. I learned more than I would have expected to over two days thanks to their experience, knowledge and patience, helped in no small measure by the stunning landscapes of Skye.

Martina(September 2019)

Nick and Harry were fantastic, so knowledgeable about the island and photography! We made the best out of the changeable weather. I had a great time and I would definitely go again!

Valeria(September 2019)

Landscape and guides were great.

Valeria(September 2019)

Guides and landscape were great.

Charlotte(September 2019)

I gained a lot of knowledge over the weekend and it was provided in a friendly manner. I never felt overloaded with information. Their depth of knowledge was clear to see and the locations they took us to were fantastic!

Cameron(August 2019)

Everything was great. The group, the activities, their knowledge, the accommodation.

Peter(August 2019)

The landscape was stunning and the vibe of the trip really chilled and relaxed.

Carys(August 2019)

Learning new photography skills was great.

Chloe(August 2019)

Charlotte(May 2019)

Guides were so helpful and patient and offered accessible advice.

Frances(May 2019)

Everything was great! The guys were super knowledgable and patient, the scenery was spectacular, the Cowshed was lovely and comfortable - it was fantastic!

Jonathan(April 2019)

Knowledgeable guides, attentive but not over bearing.

Amanda(April 2019)

The trip was absolutely brilliant from start to finish. I can't say enough good things about the hosts Harry & Nick they were brilliant. We went to 4-5 spots throughout the weekend and were given plenty of time to play around with our cameras, I really learned a lot and have a lot now to take home and practice independently. You pack a surprising amount in just a couple of days!

Sarah(May 2018)

Everything was great from start to finish!

Sally(April 2018)

It was exactly what I was after but far exceeded expectations. It’s really quite embarrassing how gushing I have been today in my praise of both you and Nick and the trip in general. I thought the level of tuition was pitched just right - not too much spoon feeding but never leaving us flailing around unsure of what we should be doing/changing (which so far in photography has pretty much been my M.O.).

Mel(April 2018)

The locations were spectacular. The guys were excellent instructors and answered all my (many!) questions clearly and in a way I could understand.

Naomi(September 2017)

Harry's knowledge of photography, eagles and local geology and history is really impressive.

Briony(September 2017)

Our guides Harry and Nick were fantastic - friendly, helpful and above all hugely knowledgeable, on not only the photography but also the local area. Stunning scenery and fab company also, and a lot to learn!

Sonja(September 2017)

Really helpful hosts who couldn't do enough to make the trip fun, interesting and to teach us to take better photos. We saw some amazing scenery and had a really good fun group.

Catherine(September 2017)

Beautiful setting, good group size, learned a lot while having a really fun weekend.

Wai(June 2017)

Marcus and his team's profound knowledge of the local area combined with their technical expertise made it a great photography trip.

Sarah(May 2017)

Everything was fab! The locations the photographers took me and the others on the tour were very picturesque. They were also very helpful explaining the technical details of photography. Definitely feel I've learnt some useful skills.

Erin(May 2017)

The team (Marcus, Harry, and Nick) were amazingly patient with the endless, and repeated questions, from the group on photography, using their cameras, and even about Skye itself. As Skye residents, the team had a plan for where to go for great photographic opportunities and how to get there but more importantly had multiple alternate plans ready for when the weather was not ideal. I knew that I was in experienced hands who would help me make the most of my short weekend on Skye.

Belinda(May 2017)

A really well thought out itinerary with good communication about bad weather options. Marcus and his team really have expert knowledge of the area which they use to ensure everything runs smoothly.

We partner with the World Land Trust to ensure this trip achieves Net-Zero emissions. We also support their Buy an Acre programme, helping local communities to buy and protect natural habitats in perpetuity.

What's the number?
It works out on average at 68kg of CO2 emissions per person, including all local transport, accommodation, food, activities, guides, staff and office operations.

The only thing it doesn’t include right now is flights and travel to the destination. We do make an overall estimate across all our customers separately, but as we don’t book flights, have customers from all corners of the world, and no way of reliably knowing their travel plans, we simply can’t include an individual number in the figure on display here. We’ve got a goal to fix that, so that when you book, there is a way to measure and mitigate the carbon emitted by your flight too.

But what does the number mean?
Yep, hard to picture eh? To give you an idea:

  • Driving 1000miles/1609km would be approx. 281kg of CO2 in an average car (or 140.5kg per person if there was 2 of you in it).
  • A return economy class flight London - New York would be approx. 1,619kg (1.66 tonnes) per person.
  • 10 trees in a temperate forest are estimated to remove approx. 250kg of CO2 from the air in a period of 5-10 years.

What are we doing about it?
Our trips are relatively low-carbon by design, and we're working with all our hosts to develop long term carbon reduction plans. We partner with the World Land Trust to ensure this trip achieves Net-Zero emissions. We also support their Buy an Acre programme, helping local communities to buy and protect natural habitats in perpetuity, ensuring the protection of the reserve and its wildlife.

Want to know more?
Amazingly, no international travel company has ever publicly published their carbon measurements before, as far as we know. We believe that must change, quickly. So we’re openly sharing the method we used in the hope that other companies will be able to more easily follow suit and build on what we've done so far. You'll find it all here.

You need to be able to walk unaided over mixed terrain for a couple of hours at an easy pace. You may also need to negotiate rocky shorelines which requires a reasonable sense of balance and agility.

Sure can! Over 50% of our travellers travel solo, it’s a great way to meet like-minded people.

Spring and fall temperatures in the north of Skye are generally moderate, ranging from 7 – 12 °C in May and October. It’s a little warmer in July and September, averaging 9 – 15 °C. Clear days are rare, but cloudy skies make for more interesting photographs anyway!

Skye has a very diverse and beautiful landscape, so you’ll be able to practice your skills on mountains, beaches, waterfalls, coastlines, lochs, rock formations and more.

Your instructors are award-winning photographers who have led trips on the Isle of Skye for 6 years, so they have plenty of wisdom to impart, whether you’re a new or more advanced photographer. Specific skills you can work on include long exposure, wildlife, sunrise/sunset, and seascapes.

Of course. You can leave anything you’re not using at the hostel.
