Need To Know

The following are not included in the trip price:

  • Flights to/from Montenegro
  • Travel insurance
  • Personal expenses
  • Tips for your guide (optional)

This trip will run with a minimum of 4 people and a maximum of 15.

Please note, if there are not 4 people booked the trip may be rearranged or cancelled.

You’ll raft a 18km section of the Tara River with 21 sets of rapids. Some of the rapids are big enough to get the heart racing and challenge even experienced rafters, but are still perfectly safe for amateurs. In fact, over the past 17 years your guides have taken more than 40,000 guests down the river and have never had a single accident.

No particular level of fitness is required, and no previous rafting or horseback riding experience is needed. You don’t even need to know how to swim thanks to the high level of safety! Just come prepared with a good attitude and a spirit of adventure.

The rafting centre’s chef creates delicious menus that combine traditional and modern Montenegrin food. Expect lots of fresh and organic fish, meat and vegetables. Some typical meals:

  • Breakfast: fresh tea and coffee, made-to-order omelets, fresh donuts, fried eggs and bacon, ham and sausage, locally made cheese, granola, yogurt, milk and fresh fruit.

  • Lunch: Delicious soup, quality meat (lamb, veal, chicken, trout or pork), and pastas full of fresh veggies and spiced with various herbs.

  • Dinner: Freshly grilled local specialties like cevapi, pljeskavica, raznjici and musaka, or different pastas with veggies or mushrooms, fresh cheeses, rice and chips. Fresh salads and pastries compliment the menu.

Absolutely, just let us know at booking.

From April to October the rafting conditions are perfect. The average temperature is around 25 °C during the day, though at night it cools down so you’ll want some warmer clothes to sit comfortably around the fire.

Your hosts will provide everything you need for rafting. They recommend you bring:

  • Comfortable walking shoes
  • A warm jacket for evenings
  • Swimsuit
  • Sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunblock)

This trip is available for kids aged 4 and up.

No. You do not have to be a swimmer at all. Everyone has to wear safety west but you have to follow instructions provided by your river guide. No one falls in - unless it’s on purpose.

Beautiful Montenegro has not yet been fully discovered by tourists, so it’s a very special destination. Much of the land is protected by World Heritage status, nature parks and national parks.

The landscape is traversed by rivers and underground streams, forming a dramatic landscape marked by dense pine forests, clear lakes, limestone plateaus and deep canyons. The area is home to abundant wildlife and an immense diversity of plants.

The Tara River flows through the deepest and longest canyon in Europe. The 2009 World Rafting Championships took place here. There are rocky and pebbly terraces, sandy beaches, high cliffs, sparkling blue pools, and more than 80 large caves along the canyon. The Tara River is so pure you can drink straight from it.

The pale, limestone Durmitor Range is part of the Dinaric Alps. The area boats well-preserved forests of old growth black pine and 18 scenic glacial lakes, including beautiful Black Lake, where you can walk and explore the peaceful shores while gazing up at high peaks.
