The hotel is devoted to bikers, so forget the dress code and enjoy a cold beer on the terrace while swapping stories with other riders. Return to work refreshed, if not a little tyred out. What to Expect

Thursday: Arrival

Pack your bike and catch a flight to Switzerland. Your host is waiting at the airport to whisk you off Morzine.

Check into your bike-friendly hotel in the heart of town and settle in.

Spend the evening rebuilding your bike on the terrace while enjoying a cold beer, then review the trail map and get amped for tomorrow.

Friday: Ride the Pleney and Les Gets trails

Eat breakfast at the hotel’s excellent restaurant, then walk a mere 50m to the Pleney gondola.

Flash your pass and catch a ride to the summit. There’s nothing but epic riding as far as the eye can see.

Tackle the famous Pleney downhill runs a few times, then make your way across to Les Gets following a network of single-track and lifts.

Grab lunch with a view at one of many mountain lodges, then spend the rest of the afternoon exploring your way back to Morzine.

Shower off in the comfort of your well-appointed room, then gather at the terrace bar for sundowners.

Saturday: Explore deeper into The Portes du Soleil

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel, then take a quick 2-minute ride across town to the Super Morzine gondola.

Warm up on the blues and reds of Zore, then delve into the maze of trails that make the Portes du Soleil so incredible.

Explore the dizzying heights and challenging tracks of Avoriaz, Mozettes and Chatel.

Lose yourself in stunning alpine views and greens forests. Just don’t forget to make your way back to Morzine before the lifts close!

With another long day of riding behind you it’s time to celebrate with drinks and dinner in Morzine.

Sunday: Biking and departure

Breakfast at the hotel, then head back out onto the trails.

It’s your last day of riding, so make the most of it. Revisit your favourite trails, or venture into new terrain—there’s still plenty to explore.

Return to the chalet to wash and dismantle your bike. Grab a quick shower, then catch the transfer to Geneva.

Tired muscles and maybe a few bruises will accompany you home. Cheers to an epic weekend.

Accommodation

You’ll be staying at Hotel Le Cottage, a traditional chalet-style hotel in the heart of Morzine. Located 50m from the Pleney gondola, the hotel is just a short stroll from the best of Morzine, including bars, restaurants, nightclubs and bike shops.

The hotel has 20 ensuite rooms, most with a balcony and mountain views. Onsite facilities include a fantastic restaurant serving classic and Savoyard cuisine, a lively terrace and bar, bike storage, and even a bike wash.

If you choose to upgrade you’ll stay at L’Aubergade just down the street. L’Aubergade is a slightly more luxurious accommodation if you’re not into the mountain biking vibe at Hotel Le Cottage, or if your adventure weekend is also doubling as a romantic getaway. The hotel features ensuite rooms, a classy onsite restaurant and bar, and an excellent central location.

The Portes du Soleil is synonymous with mountain biking. As Europe’s biggest bike park, there are 12 linked resorts, 24 lifts, and 650km of trails for you to explore. There’s a wide range of terrain for every biker, from smooth, flat runs to challenging single track laden with obstacles.

In the centre of all this awesomeness lies the small town of Morzine. Though known as a ski town, Morzine is a premier adventure base year round. With bike shops, restaurants and bars on every corner, you’re sure to find everything you need. More importantly, it’s a beautiful destination. Located at 1000m elevation, Morzine boasts panoramic views in every direction. You’ll find it difficult to leave at the end of your stay.

You’ll be met at the Geneva airport anytime on Thursday. To give yourself enough time to put your bike together in the evening, we suggest scheduling your flight to arrive no later than 20:30, however, feel free to do it in the morning if you prefer to take a late flight. Your trip will end at the Geneva airport on Sunday. You’re free to schedule any flight you like, but evening flights allow you to enjoy a final day of mountain biking. Your host will be in touch before the trip to finalise details.

The Portes du Soleil has every kind of trail imaginable, from smooth, easy runs to fast-paced single-track to complex forest trails with rocks, roots and drops. One thing every trail has in common is incredible views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. It doesn’t get better than this.

Because of the wide variety of trails, any level mountain biker will enjoy Portes du Soleil. A reasonable level of fitness is recommended to enjoy three back-to-back days of riding.

Your hotel is run by foodies, so the cuisine is delicious. Breakfast is included, or you can upgrade to half board if you choose. Here’s a sample menu:

  • Breakfast: Cereal, bread, croissants, fruit, yogurt, juice, poached eggs and bacon.
  • Dinner: Gruyere tart with rocket salad; filet steak with homemade chips, baked tomatoes and fondant carrots; traditional rice pudding with homemade jam.

Summer in Morzine is ideal for mountain biking. Temperatures range from 20 – 22 °C during the day and cool off to 12 – 16 °C at night. It’s bright and sunny more than half the days each month, and if it does rain you’re never far from a mountain lodge.

No equipment is included, but bike rentals are available in town if you don’t want to bring your own. Your local host knows the best places in town and he’s happy to assist you getting all set in advance.

In addition to a full-suspension mountain bike, your host recommends you pack the following:

  • Helmet and pads (the more protection the better)
  • Mountain biking shirts, shorts, shoes, gloves, etc.
  • Bike lock
  • Hydration backpack
