What to Expect

The Plan

Set in the beautiful rolling hills of Midlothian, with various races starting from 6am on the Saturday and Sunday, and food, drinks and live music all weekend, there’s going to be plenty to keep you busy over the weekend as you soak up this unique and intimate event atmosphere.

It’s your call which races you enter, but however you play it, here is how the weekend might shape up:

Friday: Arrival

Leave the city behind and head to beautiful countryside of Spittal Farm in Midlothian outside Edinburgh.

Check into your private, fully-furnished luxury yurt or bell tent. With carpeted floors, beautiful rugs and comfortable beds you won’t believe you’re in a tent.

Enjoy the beautiful evening, but don’t stay up too late—tomorrow is going to be insane.

Saturday: The Spartan Ultra Beast and Beast

If you’re racing in the Ultra Beast you’re up at dawn for breakfast. Head to the starting line for the 06:00 start and push yourself to the limit on the 42+km course filled with 50+ obstacles.

For the Beast, wake up to a hearty pre-race breakfast then tie on your Spartan headband and stroll over to the starting line for the 08:00 start.

Throw yourself into the melee for 19 – 22km of running, crawling, climbing and jumping through 30+ challenging obstacles.

The Beast is the longest, most difficult race of the Spartan Trifecta, guaranteed to test your endurance, perseverance and grit.

Cross the finish line and spend the rest of the day celebrating. Live music, flowing kegs and the thrill of success will keep your amped straight through the evening.

Return to your yurt whenever you like to shower, nap or chill out.

When night falls, collapse into bed to rest up for tomorrow.

Sunday: The Spartan Sprint and departure

Drag yourself out of bed for the second day of races.

Whether you’re racing or just watching, you’ll want to be at the starting line at 08:00 for the first wave.

The Sprint is shorter than yesterday’s Beasts, but no less fun. With 5 – 6km of racing and 20+ obstacles, you’ll face mud, fire, hill-climbs, belly-crawls and more.

Charge across the finish line and join other racers to celebrate.

When the party winds down, gather your gear from the yurt and wave farewell to Midlothian. Don’t forget your medal—it’ll look nice hanging in your office tomorrow.

Note: The actual itinerary and the duration of the activities are subject to change due to group abilities and preferences, weather conditions and forecasts, special events, etc.

Take your pick from a choice of classic bell tents or luxury yurts. Nothing beats arriving to find home waiting for you. Remove the hassle of having to own or borrow a tent, move it, put it up or furnish it, and guarantee yourself a far better nights sleep.
