What to Expect

Saturday: Travel to Gjakova

From Kosovo’s capital city, Prishtina, you’ll be collected from the airport and transferred to the medieval town of Gjakova. When you arrive, you’ll be taken to the Gjakova Hostel where you will spend your first evening enjoying a traditional dinner of grilled meats, fresh vegetables and homemade bread, whilst you get to know your guides and fellow hikers.

2 hour drive

Sunday: Hiking and yoga

After breakfast you’ll take the short drive to the village of Junik where your hike into the Dinaric Alps begins. You’ll make your way to your overnight camping spot by the glacial lake beneath Gjeravica Peak. Take a moment to admire the stunning views that surround you and appreciate the peace of the lake by which you will pitch your tent for the evening (you may also want to pinch yourself at this point, but trust us, it’s real)

Tent pitched, campfire lit, yoga mats at the ready; enjoy a relaxed afternoon and campfire-cooked meal. As the blue skies are transformed by the colour-changing sunset, you’ll absorb yourself in the peace of your first yoga lesson by the glacial lake and know that you’ve truly arrived.
5 hours hiking

Monday: Climb Gjeravica Peak

Today’s trail will take you the ancient trade route that once connected Albania to Istanbul. This relatively short hike will lead you to the peak of Gjeravica (2656m) in just a couple of hours. Cameras at the ready as you gaze over Albania, Montenegro and Kosovo from a perspective some could only dream of.

On this serene summit you’ll immerse yourself in nature and take time for a yoga session you’ll never forget.

Suitably energised you’ll descend Gjeravica and hike back to Junik village for a traditional lunch – ‘Flija’ will be on the menu on this occasion; savoury pastry filled with cream.

Tonight you will stay in a traditional Albanian guest house.

7 hours hiking

Tuesday: Travel back to Prishtina

All good things must come to an end; today you will take the drive back to Prishtina.

Enjoy some free time to explore the city with its’ many cafes, restaurants, fountains and statues – a re-introduction into typical city life after your tranquil escape.

In time for your flight, you’ll be taken to the airport for your forward journey home where you can re-live your adventure as you share the experience with your friends and family.

2 hour drive

Note: The actual itinerary and the duration of the activities are subject to change due to group abilities and preferences, weather conditions and forecasts, road conditions, etc.
