Meals as described

Thursday: Arrive in Kutaisi

You’ll actually arrive in Kutaisi at 00:10 Friday morning; your guide will meet you and take you on to Svaneti. This drive is the perfect opportunity to get some rest from the flight. When you arrive in Svaneti you’ll be just in time for your first traditional Georgian breakfast, enabling you to make the most of your first day.

5-hour drive

Friday: Trek to Chalaadi Glacier

Enjoy a local breakfast this morning, perhaps some traditional Khachapuri (homemade warm, gooey cheese bread), before you begin your trek from Lavladashi to Chalaadi Glacier. You’ll feel as though you are the first to step foot here as you follow the beautiful untouched valleys and trek through forests as lush as nature intended. When the forest green breaks away you’ll be greeted by the unforgettable sight of the glistening Chalaadi Glacier. Want a better look around? You’ll trek to an altitude of 2070m for a picnic lunch with 360˚ views of the Caucasus Mountains. With your appetite fed in every sense, you’ll trek back to the meet point where you’ll be taken back to Mestia for your overnight stay at Guesthouse Edelweiss.

5 hours trekking

Saturday: Trek from Becho to Ushba Waterfalls

After breakfast at the guesthouse, you’ll be collected for a short drive to the small village of Becho, which nestles at the foot of Mount Ushba (4700m).

The early part of your trek will be relatively easy, enabling you to fully appreciate the beauty of your surroundings; you’ll have a minor river crossing, trek through aromatic pine forests and have spectacular views of the Ushba summit on route. This trail does get a little harder as the terrain roughens as you get nearer to your target but believe me, the reward of your first glimpse of these waterfalls is more than worth your efforts.

With your camera full of stunning shots, you’ll be taken back to Becho and your guesthouse where you’ll spend the night.

8-9 hours trekking

Sunday: Visit Enguri Dam & Travel home

Today is your last day but you’ll make the most of the transfer back to the airport; you’ll stop to marvel at the Enguri Dam – the second highest arch dam in the world. The Enguri Dam stands an impressive 271m tall – you have to see it to believe it.

The drive to the airport is a scenic one to say the least; you’ll get to admire the unspoiled countryside you perhaps missed when you arrived in the early hours.

You’ll reach the airport around 11:30 in time for your forward flight home.

4-hour drive

Note: The actual itinerary and the duration of the activities are subject to change due to group abilities and preferences, weather conditions and forecasts, road conditions, etc.

Please Note

All our adventures take place in wild places. Things can go wrong in wild places. Your perfectly planned itinerary may change a bit (or a lot) if the weather turns, someone gets hurt, or a volcano erupts. Usually though, changes make it all the better.

Guesthouse Edelweiss is a cosy environment with mountain views and an open log fire to boot. The rooms are clean and modern with en-suite bathrooms, hairdryers, free WiFi and complimentary toiletries.

Becho House is a welcoming guesthouse with clean, modern rooms and private facilities; made all the better by the mountain views from your window (or balcony if you’re lucky enough). With free WiFi and an on-site restaurant, this property has everything you need for a comfortable night’s stay.

Georgia lies between the Black and Caspian sea, at the border between Europe and Asia. Also known as “Gem of the Caucasus”, it occupies the southern reaches of this 1100 km long mountains range. It really doesn’t matter whether you prefer to explore its remote, medieval villages or undertake long treks in the wilderness, Georgia is a trekkers paradise. Development of tourism in Georgia has previously been hampered by wars and instability, but thankfully those days have long passed and the country is quickly opening up to the world.

Svaneti is an ancient land locked in the Caucasus mountain range, so remote that it was never tamed by any ruler. Picturesque villages amidst some of Europe’s highest snow-covered peaks, towering over alpine meadows - a superb backdrop to the many walking trails.

Sure can! A lot of people do, and it’s a great way to meet like-minded people.

The terrain on the trails is mixed from easy trekking paths to rough rock strewn climbs close to the Glaciers. Good trekking boots are recommended.

Georgia is a very safe country to travel in especially when in a group with a guide. The people are generally friendly and welcoming to foreign travellers. For up to the minute information please check your Embassy's website.

This trek is great for beginners and experienced trekkers alike. It’s classed as a moderate trek so we recommend a good fitness level to make the most of your trip. There is 4x4 vehicle support throughout so you can leave your main luggage/rucksack in the vehicle and only need carry day packs while trekking.

Food is a delicious mix of local “Svan” and national Georgian cuisine, cooked with fresh produce grown or reared by the guesthouse owners. Georgian cuisine is world renowned for its mix of east and west flavors, aromas and colors. It can be slightly spicy and consists mainly of meat, vegetables, cheese and fruit. There are plenty of traditional dishes without meat so vegetarians can be well catered for. Lunches will be picnic style in the wilderness.
