This trip will run with a minimum of eight persons, and a maximum group size of 13. However, if there are more people, there are options for additional accommodation.

Sure can! A lot of people do, it’s a great way to meet like-minded people.

Much Better Adventures are very social in nature and we’ve seen lots of new friendships born out of them. Expect a mix of solo travelers and very small groups of 2 or 3, all with a shared appreciation of escaping the city for the great outdoors to try something new and meet new people.

This adventure is suitable for all levels of skiers and snowboarders. If you cannot ski but would like to learn, your host can arrange ski lessons and equipment hire for you. Please just let us know in advance

Head chef, Paul Goding, has 20 years of experience as a chef working under Raymond Blanc as well as in other top establishments in Oxford and Cornwall. He insists on using the highest quality seasonal ingredients to produce dishes of outstanding taste and presentation and will cook local specialities for you. Your package includes breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner at your accommodation.

For breakfast, you can expect a buffet including cooked eggs and bacon. Afternoon tea will include cake and dinner will usually be local specialities including wine and beer.

In the Pyrénées mountains, the average temperature in the winter is -2°C, with snowfall from December through to April, supported by the snow cannons.

Start point?
You will be met at Toulouse Airport (TLS) where you will be transported to your accommodation. Your transfer will meet all flights scheduled to land at around 21:30.

Finish point?
You will be transferred from your accommodation back to Toulouse Airport (TLS) at 16:00. You are free to book any flight departing after 21:45.

Gourette is a relatively new French resort, making it particularly modern, with brand new lifts and snow cannons. This resort is set in a particularly stunning setting with Pyrenean panoramas. This resort is tailored to intermediate level skiers, but there are ample beginner and expert runs for you to explore.

Formigal is located in North-East of Spain and is one of Spain’s largest ski resorts. With 137km of green, blue, red and black runs, this resort is perfect for all levels of skier.

Artouste is located in the West of the Pyrenees and the South-West of France. The resort offers a wide range of skiing, from freestyle to snowcross to cross-country, making it a great resort for skiers of any level.

What to Expect

Thursday: Arrival

You will be greeted at the airport by your host and taken to your accommodation, a 17th Century converted stone-barn.

Enjoy a welcome platter of cheese and wine, before tucking into a cold platter prepared by your chef.

Get an early night as you will start skiing bright and early tomorrow.

Friday: Ski in Gourette - France

Every day, your breakfast will be served from 7:30 to 8:30, so tuck into a hearty buffet, before leaving for the French resort of Gourette at 9:00.

At 10:00, you will have your equipment fitted if needed, and then the resort is yours to explore.

You will be picked up at the agreed time and taken back to the barn where cakes and tea will be waiting for you.

At 20:00 every evening, your 3-course dinner will be served. On your first night, enjoy a traditional raclette, before spending the evening relaxing.

Saturday: Ski in Formigal - Spain

Today, you will go to one of Spain’s largest ski resorts, Formigal.

With over 137km of runs, you can certainly get your ski legs in, as you explore the varied terrains the resort has to offer.

You’ll be picked up at 16:00 and taken back to the barn in time for afternoon tea.

Why not spend the evening relaxing in the games room, equipped with table tennis, a dartboard, and plenty of games.

Sunday: Artouste and Departure

On your last day, breakfast will be served as usual, but you will also need to leave time before you set off skiing to pack your bags.

Your last day will be spent in the beautiful French resort of Artouste, however, this is subject to change if you would like to return to a previous resort.

It will be a slightly shorter day as you are picked up from the resort at 14:30 to return your skis.

You will leave for the airport at 17:00, so feel free to book any flight departing after 21:00.

Accommodation

The 17th Century converted stone-barn is split into two levels with a large open plan living area and stunning 360-degree views of Ossau valley & two games rooms including; Darts, Table Tennis, and French Billiards. There are two luxurious bathrooms, each with freestanding baths and separate showers. The barn also includes WiFi, a 40” TV, Grand Piano, log burning fireplace and exposed wooden beams.
