Enjoy a dinner you’ll never forget, served in an igloo at the base of a towering glacier

Day 1

Snowshoeing, sledging and igloo dining

Snowshoeing

5-6hrs

Drive into the heart of the Alps and then strap on your snowshoes for a summit hike and some 360˚ views of this epic, unspoilt landscape. Climb into your sledge and descend a 3km long slope of deep and perfect powder. Repeat as many times as you like. Hike through the forest to a hidden igloo and warm up with a cup of mulled wine before being treated to a creamy cheese fondue and dips served by candlelight.

Day 2

Hike to a mountain hut

Snowshoeing

6hrs

Don snowshoes once more and hike to a remote mountain hut that sits above the 2000m line. When you arrive at the refuge you’ll soon be reaching for your camera as you’re greeted by simply stunning views of the Rhone and Mont Blanc Valleys. Warm-up in front of the fire while your guide prepares a delicious 3-course meal and enjoy an evening under the stars.

Day 3

The final descent

Hike, roll and slide your way back down the mountain - if you stop to make a snow angel no one will judge you. Grab some last photos and breathe in the crisp Alpine air and then return to Geneva airport and home.

Thanks to Rafael and Anna for a super holiday. It was a fun experience with fantastic scenery and a great group. I wish could spend every weekend snowshoeing in the Alps!

David(February 2020)

The trip was great and our guide Raphael really looked after us. We just wish the trip was longer!

Zoe(February 2020)

Great trip. Beautiful mountains, delicious food. Took a couple of hours to get used to the snowshoes, they were fun, especially in deep snow. (The igloo is not made of ice, but the cheese fondue is epic).

Claire(February 2020)

The trip was great fun, and the walking was fantastic. The guides were really professional and the night in the mountain hut was a nice touch.

This trip is suitable for any reasonably fit adventurer able to ascend for 800m and hike for 6 hours at a time.

Sure can! Over 50% of our travellers travel solo, it’s a great way to meet like-minded people.

Temperatures in this part of the Swiss Alps average around 4˚ between December and March. Although usually pleasant, on any winter hike in a high mountain environment you will potentially encounter high winds, rain, snow, ice and steep slopes. This trip is no different and you should be experienced and prepared to face these conditions. For help packing for these conditions, have a look at the kitlist.

Yes! Any extra kit or luggage you have with you can be safely left with your local host at the start of this trip. You'll carry your own bag up to the mountain hut for the night so we recommend packing light and aiming for a bag weighing no more than 8kg.

For those who wish to avoid flying, Chamonix is also accessible by train via the St. Gervais-les-Bains (Le Fayet) station at the base of the valley. Trains to St. Gervais-les-Bains include direct lines from Charles-de-Gaulle Airport in Paris, and overnight sleeper trains from Paris.
