Kayak the Bohuslän archipelago - 8,000 wild and mostly uninhabited islands and one of Europe’s must-do locations for sea kayaking

Paddle your way from the sheltered, inner islands to the rocky outer archipelago and wild camp in remote and deserted locations

Learn about the area’s rich history and diverse flora and fauna and visit local fishing villages to absord some traditional Scandinavian culture

Day 1

The Bohuslän archipelago

Kayaking

5hrs

Meet your guide and the rest of your team in Gustafsberg, Uddevalla and after a safety and navigation briefing head to the launch point on the beautiful Bohuslän Archipelago. Paddle out, discover hidden passages, sandy beaches and natural rock formations and lose yourself amongst the region's 8,000 islands – most of them uninhabited. As the evening draws in, choose a secluded spot to set up camp, pitch your tent and cook dinner over the fire as you watch the sunset over the sea.

Day 2

Continue exploring

Kayaking

6hrs

Have some breakfast, break camp and then get back on the water while developing your kayaking skills with the help of your expert guide. Continue exploring this maze of islets and stop for lunch on a remote beach – be on the lookout for seals. Set up camp on another deserted island, take an evening swim and relax around the campfire.

Day 3

The outer archipelago

Kayaking

5hrs

After another campfire breakfast, head to the exposed outer archipelago and a wide, blue horizon. The islands here will give you a different perspective on the whole coastline – wilder and more rugged. The water might also be slightly choppier as you near the open sea, but you'll be in safe hands. Make your way back to the rendezvous point, where you’ll say goodbye to your guide and team before heading to the airport and home.

The kit was all really good - and in great condition. The guide looked after us well and was super friendly.

Ralph(September 2019)

If you are reading this, book the trip. The setting is truly awesome and the hosts - Joakim, Karoline, and Jarno - are just as fantastic. Joakim made sure we all had a holiday - it was not a route-march on kayaks, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was relaxed. Seals were spotted, and much fun was had. A magical trip which I highly recommend.

Richard(September 2019)

Fantastic mini-adventure with my son. Oscar was a great guide. We had good conditions and great organisation - the fish soup was memorable for all the right reasons!

Zoe(August 2019)

Nothing - although the planned trip could not go ahead due to weather conditions, the alternative activities and accommodation arrangements were amazing. A great trip with awesome hosts!

Kyle(August 2019)

Very well organised and great equipment provided. Incredible scenery and a wonderful time all round.

Alex(August 2019)

Enthusiasm and knowledge of the guide were great. Equipment, weather and company also.

Freddie(August 2019)

The food was brilliant and the whole organisation of the trip was excellent. Our guide Jano was also friendly, knowledgeable and generally brilliant. All of the camping gear was also new or in very good condition as was the kayaking equipment.

Christine(August 2019)

The group, the tour guide, nature, the route, the food - simply put: everything was amazing!

No previous experience is needed, just a reasonable level of fitness and the ability to swim and handle around 6 hours of paddling each day.

Sure can! Over 50% of our travellers travel solo, it’s a great way to meet like-minded people.

There are plenty of fishing villages with top up points that you will pass.

From June to August the weather is usually good but coastal, which means mild, but changeable, with air temperatures that range from 15-30˚C. Water temperatures are also surprisingly warm, ranging between 16-23˚C and even warmer towards late July and August. The sun rises early and sets very late, especially towards the end of June and it’s typical for the outer coastal area to have sunny days even when clouds build up over the mainland. Wind is the factor that affects kayaking the most, but you can always find a sheltered area.

Any excess luggage can be safely stored with your host while you are kayaking.
