This is the only guided ride in the UK that takes you from sea to sea through three distinctly different National Parks; you’ll cycle your way from St Bees to Robin Hood’s Bay, enjoying the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales, and North York Moors National Parks along the way.

This trip will run with a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 10.

Sure can! A lot of people do, and it’s a great way to meet like-minded people.

You need to be fit for this challenge and keen cyclist used to long-distance cycling.

Expect and prepare for anything; the weather can change from hot and sunny to cold and wet, and sometimes on the same day.

Breakfast will be included with your accommodation. A good choice will be made available with full English breakfast and continental options. The food from local accommodation and pubs along the way is mainly locally sourced very good quality produce. Also, the local ales are superb! If you have any special requests, let us know and we will do our best to accommodate you.

You’ll cycle over 150 miles across the North of England, spending 90% of the time inside National Parks.

The Lake District National Park is characterised by high fells, deep glacial lakes and is England’s largest National Park; the Yorkshire Dales offers rolling green valleys scattered with traditional field barns and drystone walls; and the North York Moors opens wide with the largest heather moor in the world, traditional fishing villages, cliffs and beaches.

This ride will also challenge you to conquer three of the top ten best climbs in the UK; Hardknott, Wrynose, and the steepest route to Kirkstone Pass (454m), known as ‘The Struggle’ which requires over 400m of climbing.

Start point?
You can meet you host at the secure car park at Kirkby Stephen at 08:15. You will then be transferred to the start of the route at St Bees. Alternatively, you can meet your host at St Bees at 10:15. Your host will be in touch before your trip to finalise details.

Finish point?
Your tour will end in Robin Hood’s Bay at around 15:00, where you will be transferred back to Kirkby Stephen or St Bees, depending on your preference. Your host will be in touch before the trip to finalise details.

Getting there and away?
At Kirkby Stephen, there is a secure car park with parking included in your package. Your transfer to St Bees for you and your bike is also included. You may travel from London to St Bees (from Euston) or Kirkby Stephen (from Kings Cross) by train. Your host will contact you before you leave to check your arrival and departure plans.

What to Expect

Day 1: St Bees to Kirkby Stephen

Your guide will meet you at the secure car park at Kirkby Stephen at 08:15 and transfer you to St Bees; you can alternatively meet your guide at St Bees at 10:15 if you wish.

You’ll depart St Bees and make your way Ambleside through Eskdale and over the challenging climbs of Hardknott and Wrynose passes before descending to Little Langdale and eventually Ambleside.

You’ll continue your journey with a climb to Kirkstone Pass via the notorious route, ‘The Struggle’ before descending to Patterdale. The rest of the route will take you along quiet lanes to Kirkby Stephen and your B&B for the night.

Day 2: Kirkby Stephen to Osmotherley

After breakfast at the B&B, you’ll be on your bike and tackling a big climb up Tail Brigg and across the watershed to the top of Swaledale.

The glide down will take you through Swaledale valley and into the market town of Richmond – a good place to stop for lunch.

This afternoon, you’ll journey across the Vale of Mowbray along flat quiet lanes and through quaint villages until you reach Osmotherley and tonight’s B&B.

Day 3: Osmotherley to Robin Hood’s Bay

This morning, you’ll head into the North York Moors towards the village of Swainby, you’ll pass through Kildale and into the heart of the Moors.

It’s up and downhill from here to the finish line as you ride through the local villages before eventually dropping down into Robin Hood’s Bay. You will stay and recover overnight at Robin Hood’s Bay in a family run B&B.

Day 4: Departure

This morning you will enjoy a last breakfast as you look back on your achievement. Your transfer will be waiting to take you back to Kirkby Stephen (2 hours). From here you can begin your onwards journey.
